What’s For Dinner 3/4/23

I’m in West Palm Beach, Florida this weekend to visit family and celebrate my son and his girlfriend’s birthdays. He really wanted Japanese hibachi for his birthday dinner, so we treated him to a fancy Japanese restaurant. His birthday is actually on the 8th, but since that is a Wednesday we decided to celebrate earlier on the weekend so we could be there with him without missing any days of work.
My son and I both ordered the same thing: fried rice, mixed vegetables, filet mignon steak, lobster, shrimp and scallops, all cooked right in front of us on the hibachi grill at the restaurant. It was heavenly, the seafood was fresh, and it was all worth the hefty cost.
What was on your dinner menu tonight?
Photo is my amazing dinner that practically sent me into a food coma!

I had a turkey sub, which was infinitely better than last night’s “dinner” of canned peaches and raw potatoes.

The turkey sub sounds great, and even the canned peaches, but raw potatoes?

It was a fun time, especially with all the family there (14 of us). But it was even more fun afterward when we went back to the house for cake and ice cream.

@moffittjc Yummy, I can imagine. What kind of cake and ice cream did you have?

@RubyHawk it was an angel food cake with Cool Whip icing and strawberries, and the ice cream was vanilla ice cream.

Yum! That looks delicious! Happy Early Birthday to your son and his girlfriend!
I'll be having baked salmon and baked asparagus (that I'll be wrapping with prosciutto soon!)

@infatuatedbby I didn’t save room for dessert, but I ate dessert anyway. We had angel food cake. I felt like I was about to pop afterwards.

@moffittjc I like French fries, but I avoid because not really healthy, so I roast the potatoes in the oven.

@LadyDuck Unfortunately, I eat way too many French fries. I know they are not very healthy, but they are just so good to eat!

@porwest I like both equally. Actually, my favorite Asian food is Thai food. I love spicy. But as far as Chines/Japanese, I probably lean a little more towards the Chinese side. Traditional Japanese foods are made with white rice, where traditional Chinese food is made with fried rice. I love fried rice with egg in it.

@moffittjc I have always preferred Chinese over Japanese. But tastes do change and it has been years so maybe I am missing something?

@1creekgirl Yummy! Leftover stew. I had an Everything bagel and cream cheese for breakfast , and I’ll be having sushi for lunch with my ex-wife. Not sure what’s for dinner tonight since I’ll be driving back home to where I live in north Florida (I’m in south Florida for the weekend).

They are huge, because they are fresh from the Gulf of Mexico. They are harvested right off the coast about 45 minutes away from my home.

They are having such a great time this weekend, getting spoiled quite a bit by family. And from the sounds of it, they still have more birthday plans on Wednesday and Thursday (their actual birthdays).

Two Nathan's Polish sausages in golden honey buns. Side of three bean salad (homemade), I am sure we had some fruit as well, but that was twenty four hours ago, I forgot.

I think leftover spaghetti tastes better than when it’s freshly cooked. I guess it gives the sauce more time to soak into the pasta.
