We are having what is known as Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida. This means all week at all hours and time guys are revving their bikes real loud and zooming by with music blaring. We are lucky to live on a very short street but at both ends are main streets with traffic. The bikers make use of our street as a shortcut from one large street to another. My apartment is still pretty quiet in-between but when anyone does go by the cats nearly jump to the ceiling. As you can see from the photo Ringo was lying next to me as I was working on my PC and his exasperated look clearly says – Grandmama, can you tell them to keep quiet. Sorry, Ringo, you’ll just have to get used to it until next week. Morticia took care of herself. I have a large orange pillow against the wall behind a standing mirror. She sleeps on the pillow behind the mirror so she is sure no one can find her and she is safe,

At least the bikes will start to head out late tomorrow evening or early Sunday morning. You may have a few locals to contend with, but it's almost over. They won't be back until Biketoberfest.

Bikers and revving engines certainly are a noisy combo. You and the kitties need earplugs

You don’t think of your cats as your kids you think of them as your grandkids?
Bike week much be awful for those who aren’t bikers! My mom and her boyfriend went on vacation there for a few years for a few months and were there during bike week. They aren’t bikers though.

@RasmaSandra oh okay that makes sense I hadn’t thought it might be the babies of an older cat you owned.

@shaggin their mom was born in my closet so she was like a child to me but really belonged to my friends who live downstairs. In time she gave birth to three more litters in the same closet and so the new kittens all of whom were adopted became my so-called "grandkids". My Ringo and Morticia are the last litter she had and so I named myself their Grandmama.

@sjvg1976 when the bikers are gone the noise from the main street is not loud at all and very rarely do we hear horns or sirens. Otherwise, both cats would already be used to occasional loud noises.

@Ronrybs both Ringo and Mortica get interrupted even while eating in the kitchen. Then they both run into the workroom where I write on the PC and look at me like I could really do something to help them,

@RasmaSandra I suppose just as they get used to the noise, all the bikers move out of town to the next get together

Two of our neighbors who live in the cul de sac next too us have been firing up their Harleys over the past week or so as our temps were warm, the 80s. Now we are having Feb. temps (45-50s) in March and will do so for the rest of the month.
Glad your kitties have safe places to go when scared.

Poor Kitties! It must be a very noisy affair and annoying one. The kitties and You have to wait for few more days for the annoying noise to go away.
