Elegant dancing at Harmony Day

Yesterday we went to a Harmony Day at the nearby Recreation Centre. I thought it was an international ‘Day’ but it seems maybe not. It’s meant to promote unity and diversity among different cultures and nationalities.
We were treated to a variety of entertainment, mostly dancing, from Sri Lankan, Chinese, Indian, Colombian and other groups. The costumes, as you might imagine were very striking and I got Vince to take a few photos with his phone for me.
We had our dinner from food trucks and, once it was dark enough, a blow-up screen was ‘blown up’ and we watched ‘Wonder’, a 2017 film starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson. That deserves a post of its own.
For now, we’re off to a high school reunion at a small country pub. We’ll be staying overnight and we’re already running late so I’ll catch you tomorrow.

I first heard of Harmony Day, and it is easy to understand that it is a festival that promotes cultural exchange and harmony among different races and ethnic groups. We can learn about different languages and cultures.I think this festival is very meaningful

I'm glad you both enjoyed the entertainment. (I've never heard of Harmony Day.) I hope you have fun at the class reunion.

@wolfgirl569 We certainly need to keep working to try to achieve some sort of harmony between the various nationalities.

@JudyEv Maybe it's because your life in Australia is so different from mine in NC. I learn so many new and interesting things from your posts.

The reunion was fun. Quite small numbers this time but that's okay. We're all getting older.

Busy day! I'm sure the dances were unique. I have not seen the film.

I like those costumes. Which country is this group from?
When you say school re-union, was it yours or Vince's?

I was crying a lot too but maybe just a stream, not a river.
It was beautifully done, wasn't it?
