If you have facebook, you may be familiar with community group pages---for yard sales, community topics, happenings, local news, people report traffic jams and fires and such. Some posts are gossip and some are helpful. I have days when I do check the local pages, and days when I don't.
I hadn't looked at them in several days. A friend texted and told me to go look at the main local page, so I did. A young man posted and actually called people out for not tipping the pizza delivery guy, namely him. He POSTED their addresses on a public page! Tore in to them for not tipping.
Then it got even crazier. These pizzas were prepaid online to 3 different addresses last night, no tip given. So he continued to say, you people are not thinking, you are crazy. If you don't tip, you are crazy to leave your food in a car with a driver that knows he is not getting a tip, as an ''extra ingredient'' will be added before the pizza goes to your door! Seriously!
This is a driver for a nationwide pizza chain. The police now have it taped off, the health department is there, and the man who did this is downtown, talking to our finest fellows in blue.
How could anyone be this stupid?

We don't tip delivery drivers here.
If he had posted about me in public I would literally shove a large pizza up his backside.
Bloody cheek.
The extra ingredient is interesting.
Hope it didn't involve the driver doing anything to himself

We pay a delivery fee for getting food delivered.
We can tip the driver if we wish.
But they don't expect a tip.
Most Scots don't even tip when eating out.
And we don't pay service charges either.

Giving people extra money for them doing their job is not something I would do.
So I do not tip, and will never tip.

Whatever body fluid(s) or other gross things he could have thought of to add as an extra ingredient, none would be acceptable.
Pizza delivery here automatically charges a delivery fee. However, the drivers only get a very small part of that and expect a tip. Tipping has gotten way, way out of hand here. It's not earned, it's just expected.

Well, it's not a surprise. I used to work for Pizza Hut. And, drivers tended to get unhinged when it came to tips or lack their of. I would get complaints about drivers demanding tips. Some were caught writing tips in when they weren't supposed to. And one guy tried to sue, because he tripped and fell down.

The few pizzas we do order, we just go pick up. Demanding tips gets a person nowhere. I worked as a server in my younger years, we did get good tips at the time, but they were earned. The servers who didn't get tips weren't good servers, and they never lasted long at the job.

There are a lot of upset people really angry about this delivery guy. I know he was arrested, but that's all I know. I do hope he has some form of punishment, this is just not acceptable.
Last night son and I were talking after dinner, and we discussed this. He said he wondered just how much things like this happen without anyone ever knowing. Ugh. My tummy flipped over, he is right.
I think for the most part, I will continue to cook my own food. Gives me the creeps just to think about it.

Actions like this can definitely hurt a business. When you sell and deliver food, it needs to be a given fact that no one messes with it.

I tip when I am supposed to tip, unless the service is terrible.
If someone ASKS me, do you want to add the tip, more than likely they are not going to get much from me. I don't like to be pushed to leave money.

I know, how much does this happen that we never know about? I recall a Burger King several years ago had a problem like this. If whoever ordered through the drive thru was rude to the order taker, they got the additional treat of their food being covered with spit. They got in a lot of trouble. Not here, I believe it happened in the St. Louis area.

I actually heard that he got his job back!!!
That ought to completely destroy that business. I drove by there last night. The help was not busy making pizzas. They were all outside at a picnic table, talking and smoking. Evidently, no customers.

@MarieCoyle Yes, tipping is not a compulsion here too. There is no law. It depends on the person. Some might tip and some not.

I have no sympathy for him. As for the tipping thing, it is not a law to have to tip for pizza delivery, at least not here. What he did was just unspeakably horrible.

Yes. He openly called out 3 people who did not tip him, and actually posted their addresses in the facebook group. Not acceptable in any way.
