Canned cream style corn

Not something I would choose, but some was given to me. It was part of our poverty meals growing up. I learned to fill up on various high carb foods. Dad taught us to butter a slice of bread and spoon the cream corn over it. Like gravy. I liked it then, but I would never buy it now. However, some was given to me, and I will find a way to use it. I know some people use it to make some soups. Also I have heard of using it in your cornbread. I probably will use it in cornbread. It will be good.

Yes, it would be delicious that way. I remember when I was younger the nuns in the convent were giving out corn meal every day. It was quite good at first but when I ate it every day, I began to like to vomit.

One of my grandmothers used a lot of cornmeal, we had corn bread, corn muffins, cornmeal mush, and so forth. I always keep some in my pantry, it always tastes so good to me.

Too much of anything can be rough. I have not made corn meal mush in a while, I like it with maple syrup.

There is a popular corn casserole that uses a can of creamed and a can of regular corn, and cornbread mix. It seems to be a staple for some families. It is really good, rather sweet though. I have put a can of it in homemade potato soup at times. Good that way, too.

I like chicken corn chowder, which would be the potato soup and the creamed corn and chicken, plus seasonings.

That was a hard way to grow up, I'm sure. I've always liked corn, usually buy fresh or frozen now, but I remember creamed corn from my childhood too. I always liked the taste.

I have never had them and usually I don´t buy many cans. But if I had them, I´d probably would mix them with chicken broth, a bit of cream or milk and top it with finelly cut parsley leaves for a nice soup.

I used to love that as a kid Heather. In fact, I would not mind it now, but I rarely get it in those cans from the food boxes.

I like cream corn as a side dish but rarely get it since my girls grew up and left the best since my husband doesn't like it. I'm sure we had it growing up but I don't really remember. If you ever make corn casserole it takes both creamed corn and regular corn. I hope you're able to find a use for it.

Creamed corn is not as good as it used to be. You can make a corn souffle out of it I think.

I love cream style corn and I often add it to cornbread as I am making it. Also when I make Mexican cornbread I add it to the batter.

Canned cream corn is too sweet. I''ve made it myself to keep the sugar down.

I buy canned corn and accidentally bought the creamed style once. I didn't like it at all but I didn't waste it. I can't really remember what I did with it.
