Turn it on

Yesterday some people had turned on their air conditioner. Today or last night those same people turned it off.
They had to relight the pilot light on their furnace.
We have not completely turned the furnaces off yet, and I hope it is many months until we have to have more than the fan. Electricity for air conditioning is really high.
So people in our area are not sure which way to go with clothes, jackets and heat. That is quite normal for Kansas.

We have had a mild winter as well. Yes, I turned my furnace back on yesterday. After Easter we will turn out the pilot lights.

@GardenGerty We went out for a long walk, it was sunny and pleasant at first, but coming back home the wind was blowing and it's getting very cloudy.

Even though we had two days in the 80s, we didn't turn off the heat and didn't run the air conditioner. The house got warmer inside than I like it but I thought about the electric cost and left the air off. We just turned on ceiling fans and called that good.
When Pretty and I needed to go get her state ID renewed today, I put on shorts and a tank top. Pretty opened the front door and told me I'd need to change clothes... and she was right. It was 40F at 10 am! Our high today only reached 51F and I was happy when the heat kicked on.

Yep. We had 80's, then yesterday, Wednesday, was 20 degrees cooler. I got to school early, as usual, and there were kids standing outside freezing in shorts.

@DaddyEvil The school was nice and warm. Kids are sick, all the time. First one thing then another.

@GardenGerty I'm usually the one who checks the temp outside and lets Pretty know so she dresses appropriately... She saved me from freezing and feeling silly, both.
I hope none of the kids end up sick from getting too cold like that.

It's the same here in Ohio. Today was 81 and tomorrow will only be about 53

I see someone dropped some Kansas weather on you. Ours is much the same even with the degrees.

We had freeze warnings the last two nights. I think April 8 is supposed to be the official last frost expected date.

@GardenGerty I have a small apartment so when I turn the ac on it cools the wholesale apartment. I have an overhead fan on the deck so I can turn it on.

It can be like that in Florida, too. But our AC has been working for a good month now. I hope the weather makes up its mind for you guys.

When I was young air conditioning was not so common. We kept cool by going outside in the shade and using fans inside. We drank cold drinks and tried not to work too hard.

I'm still feeling chilly enough that I need the bedroom space heater on at night (it has a timer, so I don't go to sleep with it on) and in the morning when I get dressed, but sometimes it's warm enough when I leave work that I need the windows down in the car. I've got a sweatshirt on right now as it's a little bit too cool for my comfort, but it's supposed to be around 80°F (26°C) on Sunday.

We have a heated mattress bed, so I turn the heat down or off at night and we are still toasty.

We haven't used the AC yet; but it's been warm enough to put the ceiling fans on. There are still nights when the furnace is necessary.

My neighbor turned off his heat and turned on the central AC. I saw him earlier and he was going to switch it back as tonight it is to be freezing again. I turned mine off 2 days ago because it was so warm and stormy, but it's getting cool in here so I will have to turn it back on. I do NOT want to run the central air the first week of April, I hope the really hot weather holds off for awhile.
Today I saw people in shorts, a guy in a tank top, and winter coats and jackets. I guess it's a time that basically anything goes.
