I loved Mine Back In The Day.

Do you have one? Did you ever have one ? Do you still have records (vinyl) around.? Talking about turntables or record players. Back in the day l loved my Sony record player and radio combination - the sound was awesome. Unfortunately it was left behind when l moved to another country. However l have in my possession, records (LPs) by artistes such as Laura Brannigan, Bob Marley and K.C. and the Sunshine Band - handed down to me by an elder family member. Those are classics which l will keep. Pixabay image.

I had cassette tapes and then switched to CDs. I've never owned a record player or records. Mom had a record player and records but I don't know who took them when mom passed away.

@Kandae11 That looks like the system I got when I started getting divorced from Pretty's mom. But mine had cassette deck and CD players.

With the vinyl there was the problem with records being scratched , with cassettes the tapes got twisted and scrambled. At one time l had a music system looking like this.

My kids both have a record player but my daughter isn’t interested in it anymore and is planning to sell it.

@Kandae11 I was surprised she wanted it to begin with. I only bought it for her about 3 years ago.

I think most have graduated from gramophones, to turn tables, to music decks, to cassettes, to CDs to pen drives and now YouTube (lol)

@Kandae11 I do not have any of those now. Would you be buying one now since you have records to play?

I listen to my favorites on Youtube on my TV. I read that turn tables and vinyl are regaining popularity.

@allknowing. Not really , the records might be scratched for all l know. Of course if l had kept those music systems l had back in the day l would be happy to have them now, but l won't go out and buy one. Maybe if l had money to spare.

I never thought vinyl would still be popular with the way technology has progressed. Sadly I didn't keep any of my old vinyl records and wish I had. I spend a lot of time playing records and singing along to popular songs back then. Now I listen to my music on my Alexa.

I used to have a nice record player. When I left home, someone else claimed it. When I got married, my husband had a turntable and many vinyl records, mostly classics. I had Elvis albums. Now, I don't have any of that.

@Kandae11 Yes, they would if they were in good condition. Unfortunately, my son broke into my home when he was supposed to be at the babysitter, with a friend of his, went into the basement, and used my Elvis albums as Frisbees. I wasn't pleased.

@just4him What! Now what made him do something like that.. I recall one Sunday back in the day , the entire family was out. On our return we found that someone had broken in and stole all of our 45s - nothing else, just the records.

Record collectors would pay quite a bit for those classics.

I've never had my own, but my parents used to have a big stereo encased as wooden furniture . . . so we all used that. I eventually bought those little 45s to play . . . but eventually it was all about tape cassettes .

Oh yeah, I had a cheap record player when I was about 14 then mom got me a better one when I was 17. I remember listening to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (long version) over and over when I got that album in 1969.

I have somewhat less than the 300 LPs I used to own and move around from place to place. I'm selling some these days on Discogs, just shippped two jazz albums today and made good money.

@Kandae11 A guy I met in the army long ago, became a record executive and sent me a box of 12 or so whenever they released new albums, mostly jazz. But they had Credence Clearwater too.
