Drive or go digital?

I can either drive to the little town just south of me and pay the first six months of taxes over there, all in cash. That's about twelve hundred dollars in bills. Cash.
Or I can go digital and pay for the taxes on line. Bingo. Done. AND pay another twenty seven dollars for the choice. And repeat this Fall.
So..... drive over with cash in hand? Cave and pay the twenty seven dollars? Every month I go digital with the utilities bill. And pay somewhere in the six dollar range for the privilege. Decisions.

I always mail a check for my taxes. It's free whether I go to the courthouse, 12 miles away, and pay or send them a check.

@wolfgirl569 I should look into whether my bank will draft a check and not charge me. I don't have checks cause they cost quite a bit and I don't use them.

@wolfgirl569 That's great that you get a freebie from the bank. I've never gotten anything free from a bank. Maybe a pen.

It would depend on how far that little town is. If it is cost effective and doesn't take much gas, yes, I would probably do that. $27 for the privilege of paying online is ridiculous.

@MarieCoyle My little car gets decent gas mileage. I think you're right. I'm going to go on a courthouse adventure sooner than later.

It's important to spend our money wisely, I'm just sorry they make it so difficult to pay the bill.

My taxes are rolled into my mortgage so I don't even have to worry about them.

@snowy22315 That's the way we've always done it. We've paid the mortgage off so now its all up to us.

That's expensive. I pay all my bills online but I haven't paid more than $1.95 in fees and that's only to the electric co.
I suppose it's all about what is most important to you, saving the $27 and driving with all that money or just get it done and not have to drive anywhere. I dunno.

I prefer to pay most online except for a couple of bills that I pay personally.

I pay most of my bills online and I don't have to pay extra to do so. Although I do okay using a bill pay service through my bank. Maybe your bank has that option as well and maybe it would be cheaper?
I wouldn't want to drive across town with that much money either.
