Well, Joe Biden has been and gone and we didn’t see him in person. But that’s okay. The queue went down the other side of our road then crossed the street at the road barrier and went all the way back down our street on the other side.
Mostly, the day was nice and sunny but it showered a few times on those in the queue and from our window you could see them all pull their hoods over their heads and hunch their shoulders. We watched it on TV in our warm, dry room. We might have missed out on a bit of the atmosphere but that was our choice.
Joe gave a very impassioned speech with no notes or prompts that we could see and the crowd loved it – and him. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, spoke too. Her family home is opposite the cathedral. So all in all it was a great day and now we have only a fortnight left of our holiday.
The lower photo shows our street before the queue really developed. This photo shows our Australian flag nicely. The other photo is another of the queue.

Quite the excitement for a vacation. I would participate that way as well. Comfortable and safe at home.

Quite a number of folks to see the American Prez.
When Bill Clinton visited India in 2000, many people were keen to get a glimpse of him.
Later visits by George W Bush, Obama and then Trump or Biden did not elicit much response.
Wait.. I think Biden is yet to visit India since he became Prez but it was probably the Indian PM went for a Quad visit to US in 2021.
Anyways, all in all this was something exciting for a lot of folks there.

The upper photo shows how it is normally on Indian streets before crowds really develop forget queues. LOL
While I too do not like notes and prompts...I don't like the speeches getting drawn into criticizing opposition...or praising ourselves ...which is how it happens in India.
I doubt if I could have followed Biden's speech...we Indians speak with some accent, remember? LOL
