Thanks to @DaddyEvil for the inspiration for this post. I mentioned insect hotels or bug houses on my post about nesting boxes for birds.
Bug houses are man-made structures aimed at attracting insects and bugs that may be looking for a home. You can used wooden pallets, hollow pieces of wood of different sizes, straw, loose bark, even pieces of stone. You can also purchase a bug house if you don’t want to/can’t build your own.
It's just another way we can give a helping hand to Mother Nature.

Thank you for the mention. Uhm... why would someone purposely make a house for bugs?

@JudyEv Uh huh... and how do you know bad bugs won't take up residence in the bug house, though?

@DaddyEvil You don't. You just have to hope that the Housing Committee screen out the bad bugs.

@JudyEv I agree, there are many good insects.
Mint is also another good plant to have around a garden if you have difficulty with rabbits coming to visit and munch. We have used that plant successfully in the past. We no longer have a vegetable garden to worry about.

That is something very interesting ! This particular one seems to be somewhere in Poland or the vicinity.
Not sure if this is something that people make or buy somewhere nearby.

That's a fascinating name.
. I can't see the photo here. Seems like it is not properly uploaded.

Interesting "face" in that one brick (or whatever it is) in the middle of the bottom tier.

@JudyEv More like the face you'd make if a bug decided to live in your nose.

Thanks for sharing this information.
Always been interested in building bug houses in the province.

The only tricky bit might be the frame but you could a large diameter pipe. They can be any shape and any size as long as there are 'bits' where insects can live. If you go to Wikimedia Commons and type in 'insect hotel' you will see dozens of different shapes and sizes.

That sounds like just the thing to be able to enjoy the great outdoors. If I still had my garden in Latvia this ould be something I might consider building,

@JudyEv I'm not sure if we have this in the gardens here. I haven't seen one myself.

@JudyEv It gives me the creepy crawlies to think of all those bugs.
