My Bluebirds of Happiness Have Arrived

I have been waiting for weeks for the Bluebirds to show up in the house I have for them in Dustin's garden. They come each year, build a nest, lay their eggs, and I am honored to witness the entire process.
But with the weather and other birds having nests in so many areas in the yard, this has hindered them from staying. They would visit, then be chased off by the other birds, protecting their nests. Understandable. So I had pretty much given up on the Bluebirds for this year.
Photo #1. On April 29, the male and female visited the house. But never built a nest. They would visit a few minutes a day, but nothing happened.
Photo #2 On May 11, Finally, a neat nest of only pine straw was built by the female, as the male stayed at the house, on guard for her. Took two days for her to build this nest.
Photo #3 Today, May 16, One tiny Bluebird egg (the size of a peanut M&M) was seen this morning. I am over the moon happy. I hope for more in the coming days. They lay one egg per day.
They are definitely worth the wait. I wish them luck with a successful nest. My Bluebirds of Happiness. Thank you Dustin.

Thank you, this has made my day. I always feel a connection to my son. Another story to share one day Amber. I will catch the entire process and get it on camera. I have for years now. Hoping they are successful and no predators disturb them.

@kaylachan Each nest is usually 3-5 eggs. Sometimes they will have two nests per year.

That's a nice photo. I'm glad they decided to build a nest and raise babies again this year.

@CarolDM You're welcome. I'm surprised they did return if the other birds were being protective of the area.

@DaddyEvil You never know about these birds. They could have had another nest in a neighbor’s yard.

The wait was indeed worth it. Amazing the size of their egg is as small as a peanut

That's an M&M's candy isn't it? Hehehe. Pretty much same.
This is my happiness too. Everytime I see your Bluebird photos, I feel I am on your yard.

They are a connection to Dustin. Remember the story about the crystal bluebird he gave me in the hospital one year? I still have it of course. He told me I would always be happy with it nearby. This is why I first started Dustin's garden years ago. Another story to write about again soon.

@CarolDM We have a robin's nest on top of one of our coach lamps; and the mother flies back and forth all day and chirps at anyone that comes near.

@LindaOHio They protect the nests for sure. I finally saw two successful robin nests fledge. Babies are all over the yard.

Bird nests and eggs hatching to carry on the species. A fun part of spring to see them grow! I've got a birdhouse right now occupied by a sparrow couple I believe.

@CarolDM No choice. Many live around here. They used to live in my chimney until I got it replaced.

@dgobucks226 I don't put out seed feeders and that deters them somewhat. I cannot imagine them in the chimney.
