I called a maid I used to have to help me with sewing.

She has industrial sewing machines and now that I´m looking up at my closets, I have come across garments that need to be given away and others that should be repaired. I called her and she will come next week to check on clothes. I discovered a couple of flannel PJs that desperatly need a new elastic and would be as good as new. Marco, on the other hand, told me that he might be able to come to do part of the kitchen job this weekend. But I I won´t count on him until he arrives. I hope my problems subside, little by little.

People these days seem to just throw things away nowadays, so it’s nice to know you repair your things instead of just making them waste in an ever growing pile of trash somewhere.

These were perfectly good PJs excepting the elastic. It would be a shame to throw them away. If people repaired more what they have, even people who make clothes would learn again to make them in a better way as they made them years ago. Nothing should be disposable.

It seems that the lady is an expert in the sewing. I wish you a good luck in all that you get doing.

I am glad that I learnt from my Mom to do some adjustments to clothing. I replaced the elastic to my husband PJs two days ago.

When Pretty or I needed repairs to clothing, my mom did them until she passed away. After that, I've done all the mending needed for the both of us. I hope your problems gradually get better, too.

I am not capable of repairing much now. My fingers hurt me too much. But I can tell Rosa what I want to be done.

@marguicha I can't see well enough to thread a needle anymore but Pretty can thread one for me. I do all the sewing by hand.

It always amazes me that people do not fix their clothing. I had a neighbor that threw items away if a button fell off!! It takes no time to sew the button back on, good grief. I mend things. I was taught to mend, and to sew, at a very young age. When something wore out, it went to the rag bag or one of the grandmothers cut it up and the good parts left became quilt squares. Nothing went to waste.

I don`t like throwing away old clothes but I give them away to people who can use them. If needed repairing then, I let it repaired and then give it away Your problems will be ok just stay stronger

That will make your clothes look good as new to have her sew some of them.

I guess things will get done in their own sweet time. I do hope Marco turns up. That would be a bonus.

I'm just about to put some new elastic in Little One's pyjamas - they keep falling down!
