Look Mum! No hands!

For quite some years, a pack of cards would arrive unsolicited from the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists association. They have got our address from somewhere and around Christmas, there would be a pack of cards in the mail. I always bought the pack. It was one way of ‘giving’ and the artists are doing what they can to help themselves.
When we moved, they didn’t have any forwarding address but somehow it seems we’re back on their mailing list. The cards now are blank which is a good idea. There are also two bookmarks and some gift cards. Also included is a price list for jigsaws, notebooks, calendars, prints, place mats, etc.
Usually there is information on each artist but not this time. Some become quadriplegics through an accident; others are born with a severe disability.
The green card has been painted with a brush held in the foot; the others have all been painted by mouth. I admire them all for the talent they’ve developed. I couldn’t do half as good as this, even using both hands.

We used to get packs of cards like that, too. But one year I couldn't afford to give them anything for the cards because I lost my job... I got a phone call a month later and the person told me I'd "stolen" their work and I needed to pay immediately. I explained I'd lost my job and the dude started screaming that he'd lost the use of his arms but he wasn't complaining. I told him to take me off their list and never call me again!
A few days later a very apologetic lady called and told me to keep the cards and not worry about paying this year. I told her never send me cards again as I'd never willingly help them anymore.

@JudyEv I was so surprised and disappointed. I thought they'd understand someone having some bad luck.

@DaddyEvil You would have thought so. I guess there are good and bad characters among them just as in other groups.

Wow, that’s amazing! God bless them. I’m with you: I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler, let alone do art like that.

It's incredible how some people adapt to their disabilities.

I remember living in NYC and mom would get cards with drawings on them and it said that the artist drew with her feet, We always sent something,

Now the phrase disability is not inability is a true statement. I cannot draw even a chicken for sure but imagining someone with a physical challenge of any kind can do it, I applaud them and usually I support them in any way I can.
