Your Legacy

Have you ever stopped to think about the legacy will will leave? I’m not getting dark, because SO many Mylotters are going to have wonderful ones. Yesterday, I came across the fairly old news of a “celebrity “ death, and I thought how although his family and friends most likely loved him, most people remember him for the pure trash he promoted. His job doesn’t have to be who he was, but it still stands out.
I don’t often think about my own. I know what my dad’s will be, and I feel like I have a great sense of my mother’s. A girl I went to school with named her daughter after my mom, and my heart warmed to knowing she was thought of so highly someone wanted her name associated with their child. I know so many people loved her.
Can you tell me what you think or want your legacy to be? You may not care, but I would like to leave my family with good memories to cherish.
Please share.

I am hoping it is one of love and laughter. That is about the best we can hope for I guess.

I think I just hope my children and others in my family will think of me fondly and will remind my grandchildren how I loved them the most!
I won't have a lot to leave them, but I know they know, for sure, that I love them.

@rebelann I had to double check my reply! I thought I had told you no one would say anything! And no, ma’am. I don’t know your life, but a heck of a lot of people here have nothing but good things to say about you. And Mylot can be very revealing…

I hope that my mom would think of me as the best daughter she had. I also hope that my husband remembers me and listens to all the good advice I gave him.
I know I will leave my husband with good memories. In good and bad times we stuck together.

@AmbiePam Yes that's true. I'm messing up nowadays. I have a lot of flaws. I still hoped I can be like that most importantly in the eyes of God.

Absolutely, leaving a positive legacy is important to me too! I hope to be remembered as someone who spread kindness, brought joy to others, and made a positive impact in people's lives. My wish is for my family and friends to cherish fond memories of our time together, just like you do with your mom. Let's all strive to leave behind wonderful legacies that inspire love and happiness.

This is a very thought-provoking topic you have posted.
I hope that my family knows that I was always there for them, and loved them with all of my heart.
I hope that those who I crossed paths with, at work, church, neighbours and friends, know the very same.

Not having much family left and friends scattered about the best I wish for is that after I go people will stumble over my work online and read what I have written and say boy, she was a good writer, That will be enough for me,

I am hoping to get a book published before I die. Other than that, my legacy, I hope, will be that I was a good person. Have a great day.

I haven't really thought about that. That's a very good question. Currently I don't really have anything worth sharing, that I know...

I know you’ll be remembered by me (don’t you die anytime soon though) for having a world of expressive talent, for loving your family, and showing people you can survive in the darkest of times. You inspire me when I’m down because I know you haven’t given up either, even with all of your health challenges.

@AmbiePam Well I appreciate that. That's very sweet to hear. I wouldn't do anything to die, but can't say when my time will be up. I just wish that I was leaving behind a successful career. I am glad to be inspiring, even if I don't feel I even inspire myself...

Quite a long time ago now, I did a similar post to this, about leaving a legacy.
I have put much thought in this, as well. So many leave good legacies, and the memories of these people bring a lot of joy to many hearts. And yet so many leave poor ones, leaving a legacy of destruction, hate, despair, and pain to others. As we age, I think we tend to ponder the legacy we will leave behind. I know I do.
I'm not famous for anything. I never will be, and that's fine. I'm not beautiful, just average looking, so there's that. The only legacy I am more than likely leaving behind is a legacy of love, for my family and friends. And in the end, to me that is all that matters.
