Have you followed the sad story of the sub that apparently imploded while trying to visit the wreckage of the Titanic?

I have mild claustrophobia, so there is no way I would have participate in this mission. But I am fascinated by the miscommunications that lead to airplane crashes, so I have spent some time reading up on the sub that imploded a month or so ago while trying to visit the wreckage.
Apparently, many of the people involved in th design of the sub were quite young and inexperienced. Some were literally Interns at Washington State University, in their early 20s. There had been previous incidents with the subs, leading to concerns among the young company's employees.
Several employees had either been fired or resigned after expressing their concerns. I'll attach the video I just watched. Something weird that occurred to me (actually, it's in the video): Why don't they follow nature and make the subs in the shape of an egg, instead of a cylinder? Sigh.
Would you ride in one of these? Have you been following this story?

I've actually been reading up on that... and no, I would never get into a submarine.

@TheHorse They were steering the sub with what looked similar to a game controller.
I think they put too much trust into those young people and didn't do enough due diligence. (Can you imagine how those people feel after finding out the sub imploded? That's guilt they'll carry for the rest of their lives.)

I have caught bits and pieces of this but not sure what happened. I am extremely claustrophobic so just the thought of a sub is really scary.

I know a little bit about it, but haven't followed it. People never learn. There were warnings about many things, and when ignored... look what happened.

Nope, this is not and will never be for me and neither would a real sub be for two major reasons the closeness of space and my high anxiety. I remember back in Latvia getting into an old elevator with Martin. The elevator was so small and so narrow I suddenly felt I was put into a standing-up coffin and grabbed onto Martin who completely understood what I was feeling. We took the stairs back down,

Yes I've followed the story. Many shortcuts were taken (not having it independently inspected) and mistakes made in the design (carbon fiber hull). I NEVER would have gotten into that thing for $10 million.
The Titanic wreckage is a gravesite and should be respected as such. It isn't a tourist destination.

I have to go with Chicaa's opinion. It's a gravesite, they have recordings and such of the Titanic wreck from it's discovery, there is no need to keep going over 2 miles deep in the ocean and risking lives to see the wreck. They didn't build it well. It seems many voiced concerns over it's safety. And now, it's just time to scrap the entire idea. No one in their right mind would go down there in one of those things now, at least I hope not.

@MarieCoyle They should build the next generation (I'm sure they will) in the shape of an egg. Have you ever tried to squish a raw egg in your hands?

They risk their life, and that submersible don't even have a window, it has a tv screen instead. The point of submarines are the windows.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I did not know that. They did not mention that in the video.

I haven't followed the story since the implosion. I would NEVER go down in a sub like that. I found out when I had my last MRI that I have claustrophobia. Thanks for the video.

@TheHorse I will opt for an open MRI next time. What freaked me out was when I opened my eyes and the top of the MRI was right above my nose. Freaked me out!
