Today while I showered I thought about some recent discussions, like on where @AmbiePam asked if you wanted scented or unscented laundry products. How about bath products, and shampoos, etc.? I have in the past enjoyed various scented body wash products, however a dermatologist wanted me to start washing my face with Dove brand bar soap for sensitive skin. No color or fragrance. Now at least part of the time that is what I use for my body as well. Instead of scented body wash. I still use that some time. Do you use special soaps for your face? Does it make a difference? I think the Dove bar soap does make a difference for my face. Unfortunately nothing will really make me younger.

I have always used unscented products for sensitive skin. I use Dove for my body, but for my face only Pears glycerin soap unscented. It's British, produced since 1807..

When I was young, but old enough to buy my own things I bought glycerine soaps. I am not sure if I ever used Pears but I have heard of it.

@LadyDuck We are healthier when we do. I have gotten some good advice from the two different dermatologists I have seen.

I only use unscented, except when my skin is getting dried out and then I will use some almond scented body wash. I used unscented shampoo, conditioner and products also.

Certain things have always irritated my skin. You probably would do well with a lotion made with almond oil.

@Juliaacv Everything in balance. I used to make skin products and loved to add almond oil to them.

@GardenGerty Yes, I have a bar of almond soap, liquid bodywash as well as lotion. I do not like to use too much of it all at once as the scent can be a bit much, but it does soothe the dry skin.

I don't use soap on my face. I take a teeny bit of room temp milk and add a teeny bit of honey . . . mix that up well and put that on my face for like a half hour - then rinse off. Maybe once a week I will take a cottonball to my face with water and organize apple cider vinegar.

Very natural care. I need to do the milk and honey, I think.

No, I don't use special soaps on my face. My face is very oily; so I use regular bath soaps. I don't use anything with a really strong scent. I have a problem with my scalp; so I try and use baby shampoo or something else really mild. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Scalp issues are part of my problem as well and a part of why I saw the dermatologist most recently. After all of those antibiotics this spring I got scaly, oily patches on my scalp. I have shampoo and drops that help. Regular dandruff shampoo helps as well. When I was younger I noticed if I would use a clear shampoo, like baby shampoo, I did not have a sore scalp.

@GardenGerty I have an itchy scalp with sore spots. The dermatologist didn't know what to do about it. I use mild shampoos without fragrance if I can; but it doesn't help.

I have sensitive skin. All the skin care products must be fragrance free. I use Neutrogena's Extra Gentle Cleanser to wash my face, and QV Gentle Wash for the body.

If I use scented bath products it will be something like lavender, which I know does not bother my skin. Unfortunately, I have sensitive skin so I have to be especially careful with face products. And, with the water at my apartment, it already breaks me out in an itchy rash. So, I actually use Neutrogena already wet face wipes, and a Cetaphil moisturizing on my face afterward. It has taken a lot of trial, and expensive error.

I use a generic cetaphil, even to remove makeup. The Dove bar for mostly in the shower. Both recommended by the dermatologist. Yes, face and scalp care even are pricey.

I've found that a lot of 'unscented' products smell worse than their scented counterparts. I don't use soap on my face, just water, occassionally toner.

I like Sea Breeze especially in the summer. I only started using the Dove because of recommendation from a dermatologist. Usually just rinse.

@GardenGerty .......That is one reason I like the Happy Face laundry soap that Beekman 1802 makes. And many other products on QVC and HSN.

My shampoo and bath soaps are unscented ones. I get a terrible rhinitis when they're scented. My body can tolerate Dove sensitive because they're unscented but I don't use it to my face. I use a face wash that contains AHA and BHA for gentle exfoliation. I have oily skin.

So many of the scents in our cleaning and washing products are made from chemicals that are bad for us. It has been a long while since I have done much for my skin.

The only scents I like are those that are natural to the product in question, chemical scents can cause skin irritation.

I don't use soap for my face except if the soap is designed for face...I clean my face with ponds cleansing cream then wipe it off with tissue every night...I use mild soap or some body wash for my body then put lotion. Dove is a good brand and I also use it.
