Did you know you might be able to get this service half off?

So some of you may have Amazon Prime, which has a lot of benefits, from watching their movies and television shows, to getting free shipping (although if you order $25 worth of merchandise you get free shipping anyway). Did you know if you are on qualifying government assistance (Medicaid, WIC, SSI, TANF, SNAP, Low Income Energy Assistance, and several more) you can get Prime for half the price? Instead of $14.99 a month it is $6.99 a month. You just half to upload a picture of say your EBT card, or proof of Medicaid, etc… Anyway, I doubt I sign up because I just don’t need it (although I’d love to have Thursday Night Football), but I thought it might save some of you money. Do you save money on any particular services?

I did know..the only thing is, you can't share it. But its good they do that. So for the same price as two cheaper memberships, might as well get the regular one in our case.

I don’t follow. You mean I can’t share Prime with someone else? I’m not catching on to why I might as well get the regular. I must be too tired to pick up on things people are talking about this morning.

@AmbiePam Yes if you get the discounted rate..you can only have yourself on it..no one else in the household can use it..I mean it is not family friendly..it is a one person rate. No for you its good as it is only you right? If you get the discounted rate..you cant add someone on to your account..a real pain in the a.. Course, they may have changed it. I know for sure you cant share the discounted rate, meaning you cant add another person if you get the student rate..I dunno..check it out though you may be fine. Its just what I remember.

@RebeccasFarm Oh, I didn’t intend to share it with anyone. I was confused as to why half price wouldn’t be better for me. There is no one for me to share it with so the half price should be just fine if I got it. I just don’t think I want to get it. I’d still be spending $6.99 on something I wouldn’t use much.

We get our internet for around $30 a month after showing our SNAP benefits card. It's still the same full speed internet we were paying $60 a month for... We don't pay for other online services.

I get $30 off my internet, but my internet is still way more. Which company do you use? I have Cox, and I don't even have the highest speed! They charge far too much.

It's good that you let people know. I am sure there are some that will hopefully take advantage of it. Me, I don't shop at Amazon that much, I think its been a 2-3 years since I last ordered anything from them.

That's good to be able to get it for half the price if you have any of those things. It would be nice to get free shipping and not have to buy the minumum amount for free shipping.

I got free vouchers for participating vendors at Farmer's Markets. That is all we qualify for right now, but if we go to a participating Farmer's Market, Bob and I can each get $50 worth of food.

That's what I did about a year ago, it's a nice perk cuz I'd rather choose what I watch than get stuck with cable.

No we pay full price for everything. We make to much money. But we do get Medicare for free and I might call to see if we can get Prime for half the price

I heard Disney+ was doing a $1.99 deal for three months right now. I don’t know if one has to sign up for longer to get the deal though.

@AmbiePam I had Hulu and one other one for $1.99 a month for a year but I ended up canceling both of them because I wasn't using them.

Yes, I have told several people about this discounted rate. When you consider free shipping and then the convenience of not having to run around looking for what you need, plus the high cost of gasoline, it’s a good deal.

I thought I would need to sign up for Prime last year when Prime took over Thursday Night Football, but found it on a regular channel, I think Fox, but I'm not sure anymore. I know the Pack has a Thursday night game soon, the 28th against the Lions. If things have changed so that I need to sign up for it to watch the game, I will. But I don't think it will be necessary. Thanks for the info. It will come in handy if I need to sign up for it.
