Good Morning from Sunny Florida

Good Morning everyone! I was commenting with several other myLotters this past week that I felt bad that I'm not more active here (sometimes life really gets in the way), so I'm going to try to do a better job of being active here. I really miss when I don't get to interact with the so many wonderful friends I've made here.
I know many of you in other parts of the US are already enjoying beautiful fall weather, but that hasn't really been the case here in Florida. Our seasons seem to be hot, hotter and hottest, and usually the seasons are distinguished by the amount humidity in the air. But I will say that it feels a little bit like fall here this weekend, as it's not quite as hot and the humidity seems a little lower. I'm jealous of all of you with cooler weather, and the beautiful colors of the fall foliage.
My plans today (and this whole weekend) are to clean around the house and watch some football. Pretty boring stuff. How about all of you? Any exciting plans this weekend?

We are still getting nice temps here. In the 70s which is about right. Nothing here either. Hubby will watch football and I will go to my escape room

@moffittjc I don't mind 80s if the humidity isn't high

We've been in the mid-80s for much of the past week, which is still hot to most people, but we consider it a win anytime our temps drop below 90.

@wolfgirl569 Our humidity is high. so the mid-80s you are thinking of isn't the mid-80s we're experiencing.

Nope same for me, gonna clean around the house and watch football. I am planning on going to a cider restaurant tomorrow though, and get a caramel apple slushee. That sounds awesome. It is a new place, and has a very good reputation.

@snowy22315 Well, even if you have to delay for a few days, I do hope you get to try it. And if you do, please let me know how it was. I'm dying to know if it's good or not.

A caramel apple slushee sounds amazing! I was at the grocery store yesterday and saw apple cider peanuts and pumpkin spice peanuts from Planters. I'm tempted to go back and buy the pumpkin spice peanuts today!

I’m with you on this hot weather nonsense. I am so ready for the actual cool weather. I also realize I shouldn’t complain because I have been to Florida several times, and you aren’t joking when you say it is hot, hotter, and hottest. Florida and Louisiana are the most humid states I have ever stepped foot in.
Football is in my future this weekend!

I plan on watching lots of football games this weekend! Are you a college football fan, and NFL football fan, or both?

@moffittjc Both, definitely! If I had to choose I’d go NFL, but I love both.

@AmbiePam I like both as well, but I definitely lean more towards the college game (I live right next to the University of Florida and have been a season ticket holder since 1992). I used to be a season ticket holder for the Miami Dolphins when I lived in south Florida, but I live too far away from both the Tampa Bay Bucs and Jacksonville Jaguars to regularly attend those games.

Our weather has been sunny and in the 70s. Perfect. It will get up towards 80 next week; but then drop into the 60s!!! We hope to get more rain soon. Hopefully you will get a break in the weather. Our anniversary is October 3rd; and we are starting to celebrate today with some Chinese. Have a great weekend. It's good to see you. Please stop by more often!!!

The weather you describe sounds absolutely heavenly! I would love to have that weather. There was a time before climate change reared its ugly head that we would get that kind of fall weather here in Florida. I miss those days.
Happy anniversary to you and your husband! I hope the two of you do a lot of celebrating between now and the 3rd!

Is it perhaps that sometimes one just needs a break from even a place like this from time to time? I sure did. Not even sure to what extent I will come back. But here I am for now. Sucks that summer is coming to an end, that's all I know, and in a couple of weeks I will have the camper in to get winterized.

We have a little breeze blowing here in MS!! Woohoo! Such a nice break from the humidity!!
I am about to go take one of the twins--the one with no car to urgent care. I took here 2.5 weeks ago and she didn't have a 100% recovery so another round of antibiotics is probably in the works.

We're actually getting fall weather here (it's gotten cooler and gray - we might even get some light rain today).. . . and generally it's usually stays pretty hot through October here - so it's weird. It's strange that other states that are normally way cooler than us are now hotter. Well, we apparently go back to the 90s for next weekend . . .so we're on a weather roller coaster ride. We're probably kicking it at home . . . gas is 6+ now!!

@moffittjc Well our forecast yesterday was wrong after all . . . it was gray/cooler - but no rain. So it's usually very warm for you guys out there . . . does it stay humid in these months too?

@much2say It is almost always hot and humid through September and into October. And then from October through November, it's hit or miss. It could be 95 degrees for a week or two, and then then next week it's in the upper 70s/lower 80s. The weather towards the end of the year tends to bounce around all over the place here. Usually the humidity starts to decline though, so even in December if we have a blazing hot day it will still feel tolerable because the humidity will be low.
It almost never gets cold during Christmas anymore, but we had a freak year last year and it actually dropped down to 20 degrees on Christmas Day. Of course, the family and I were at Disney World that day and we were struggling to keep warm.

I saw the October temperature outlook on the Weather Channel yesterday, and it is forecasting that Florida will be cooler than normal for October. Perhaps it will only be 90 degrees instead of 95 degrees, but I'll take any win wherever I can get it. lol

I've noticed that your area has been getting hit by a lot of rain. It did end up raining here yesterday, but it must have been a very light rain because I didn't even hear it on our metal roof. But everything was wet when I went outside to run an errand.

It's nice to have a boring weekend every now and then. Two weekends ago I played in a big paintball tournament up in Chicago, and then last weekend I was at Disney World. As much as I like adventure and action, I can't go balls-to-the-wall every single weekend! lol

I'm glad to read a post from you. I always check to see if there's anything new with you.
I'm glad it isn't as hot or humid as usual.
Enjoy football. I'm watching TV and vegging out today. I already took my walk, shopped for my friend down the hall, and worked out on the foot cycle.
The rest of the day is total relaxation.

Our weather keeps fluctuating, almost on a daily basis. One day it will be lower 80s and pleasant, the next day mid-90s and miserable. Then the next day after that back down into the 80s. I guess I'm at that longitude where colder air and warmer air are battling it out for supremacy!

I helped Son2 move to MD this weekend. Now, he and GF are getting the apartment all setup and planning to do some shopping. I'm going to stay here and do some writing. They don't need his gray-haired old daddy following them around the stores, and I really don't want to go. GF and I will head back to NC tomorrow. She has to be back to school and work on Monday.

Sometimes, as you said, life just gets in the way. But that's ok. I haven't been here a lot, either. Family, obligations, etc. have to come first.
We are having a few days of summertime 80's, then this weekend is supposed to be fall temps! I am anxiously awaiting the changing of the leaves, which is usually peaking week 2-3 in October. But this year is very dry, so there might not be such pretty colors. I hope I'm wrong.
