Would you put this on your Christmas tree?

So I got this tree topper for my sister’s Christmas tree because I thought the star projecting Christmas scenes on the ceiling would make my nieces and nephew so excited (ages 12, 8, & 4). My sister politely declined because it is gold, and she decorates her tree in silver, so the decorations and star topper would not match. I was disappointed (not hurt), and since it was free, it didn’t bother me. I plan to see if my dad’s wife would want it for her tree (better than not being used at all). I was just wondering, would you have used it? My mom just let us decorate our tree however we wanted, with a myriad of color and ornaments. My sister’s is color coordinated. I guess I thought a star color would not matter, and I am a little disappointed for Amyra, Annelyn, and Hudson. So, would you, and are you even a tree decorator at all?

I would have loved it and it makes sense that a star is "GOLD" and it's fine if it's different from the other decorations. I always decorate my tree, a mix of colors.

A tree with a mix of colors is my favorite.

@AmbiePam I like them more than everything the same color.

Besides, hasn't she ever heard of the VERY famous Christmas song sung by Burl Ives? Silver AND Gold. Hmmm.

I am sure I would have found a use for it somewhere .. but she may have a pretty firm idea of what she wants.

Oh, she absolutely does. Her tree is always color coordinated from top to bottom. It looks like it came out of a magazine. But she’s thinking about what she likes when it comes down to a gold star versus a silver star; not what the kids would like. I understand that though, and I don’t know why in the world I assumed she’d alter it. That’s completely on me.

I love ornaments with history and meaning, in whatever colors they come. I would love the star as I collect stars. I do not always have a tree, though. Once or twice my mom tried to be all fancy and color coordinated. It felt like the tree did not really belong to us kids. You may have given me an idea for a discussion, if not tonight, then tomorrow. Will the kids get to see the topper at your Dad's house, if his wife uses it?

I don’t think so as we usually have Christmas in the Tulsa area. I think I might show it to them at Thanksgiving, and maybe that will be enough for them just to see what it does. I really wish she’d think about how much the kids would love it.

I would think the kids would have been delighted with that . . . couldn't it be a decoration without the tree too? We have a small artificial tree . . . with a mish mash of ornaments and such. We all used to decorate the tree together, but for years now the kids have been putting it together by themselves.

I’m not sure if she’s willing to try just setting it somewhere, but the kids would love it. I plugged it in, and couldn’t believe how cool it was.

My tree topper is a little (I think handmade) angel that's been around since I was pretty little. What sort of Christmas scenes does this thing project?

A tree, Santa driving his reindeer, Christmas bells, stuff like that.

@xstitcher I wouldn’t think so.. I imagine it’s for kids. I’d prefer a manger, and would like Santa excluded. My nieces and nephew don’t believe in Santa. I would like the snowflakes though.

I gave my Christmas tree to Amyra two years ago. It was a fairly small, purple one.

@RebeccasFarm I’m sorry, Oshy. I have a one foot plastic, pink tree with tiny little colorful bulbs I’ll use as my main tree. I just don’t have room for one anymore, but I’m working on that.

I am sure that this will become the family's favorite decoration in the years to come. I would just love to find one as I think that the twins would adore it, I know that I would. I prefer a star on a Christmas tree to be gold, it is much more fitting in my eyes.

I might not put it on our tree, but I would find another way to employee it so that the projections should be enjoyed. Our tree is small, now that it's just the two of us. And since we are traveling to California to have Christmas with Son1, we may not even put up a tree this year.

That's too bad. I bet the kids would have loved it. Years from now which do you think the kids would remember: the pretty scenes and colors on the ceiling or the fact that the star matched the ornaments?

That is what I think, but unfortunately, she is a perfectionist. It seems like a tough way to live.

The trees when I grew up weren't color coordinated. I don't put up a tree anymore because of the four cats.

Looks like a nice star to put on top, sorry that she declined. I wish I could be organized with certain colors and such for a tree....but I just get ornaments that I like, or that the family likes.

I just had a cool thought; I imagine a light that showed all your artwork rotating in the ceiling like this star does with Christmas scenes. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

@AmbiePam That would be very different, but cool! I don't know how that could be made and all that lol!

Yes, I would put it on my tree. I love to decorate for Christmas. Though this year, I think I'll leave the tree in the storage closet. The way I have the living room set up now, I have no room for the bigger tree. I have a 2-foot fiber optic tree I keep up year-round. I'll plug it in soon.

I would have taken the topper and used it. We only have about a 2-foot pre-decorated tree; but I would have made it work...Have a great day.
