Do You Want to Speak to a Human?

I'm sure we've all had an occasion when we've tried to speak to a human about a complaint and have gotten stuck in the matrix of a phone system. No matter how you tried, you couldn't reach a real person. There are companies that make it impossible to speak to a real person such as Google and Microsoft. And if you can't get satisfaction when you do get through to someone...
Fear not! All is not in vain!
* There is a website you can go to called GETHUMAN.COM and find phone numbers for quite a few companies' customer service departments.
* If you get caught in the phone spiderweb, try repeatedly asking for a "representative" or dial "O" for the operator. Sometimes that works.
* If you don't get satisfaction from the rep that you speak with, call back. You will most likely get someone different who may handle the problem to your satisfaction. If that doesn't work, ask to speak to a supervisor.
* If you are complaining about the high rates you are being charged, say "cancel service" and you will be connected with the department that wants to keep your business.
* If this doesn't work, you can always file a complaint online on the company's website, put a complaint on their Facebook page, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or with another ratings website. That will usually get a response from the company.
Good luck!

I'm starting to believe that customer service doesn't exist anymore.

@LindaOHio Yep, those were the good old days! I guess today’s equivalent would an online company telling you to keep whatever product you’re attempting to return because it would cost them too much money to ship it back. My daughter bought a very expensive leather jacket last year for Christmas, and it didn’t fit. When she tried to return it and ship it back, they told her to keep it and then they sent her another size for free. I had the same thing happen with a pair of shoes I ordered online.

@moffittjc Wow! Doing that just because it didn't fit is a rarity.

I remember the days when if you made a complaint about a product, someone would come to your door with an armload of free items.

Yep. Thanks for the info.
I was a customer service rep for many years. If you know the number sequence of the office you are calling you can also dial a number close to the one given and you can get ahold of someone in that same office. I've done that alot.

Thanks, those are some good ideas. I just had another nightmare experience with our internet provider. All I wanted was some help installing a new modem and over two hours later a lady finally helped me.

That's terrible. I wonder how much time we've wasted over our lifetimes?

@LindaOHio Now Netflix needs the new modem info but won't accept the new password. I wonder how long I'd last living off grid. Probably not very long.

I hate it when I need to speak to a rep and I have to go through that automated system for a while before I even get the option to talk to a representative.

It's so annoying. I've gotten into a situation in which I couldn't get any further and had to call back.

Yes, it's better than snail mail. They have a tendency to ignore snail mail.

Those are all good tips...AI is supposed to be so smart, but most of the chatbots they have working have a very limited repetoire.

I remember recently...the options they had did not fit my needs. I finally just chose one so I could talk to someone.

Very nice! Those are all the things I told people who couldn't get help with their phone company... Sometimes it pays to be persistent.

@LindaOHio No, I've never heard of that site. It's okay... people need to be reminded that there are still ways to talk to real people when they need to.

I'm sorry. I don't remember that post. Did you also have the information about GetHuman.com? I just read about that yesterday. Have a great evening.

@lindaohio Good advice. My usual solution is to shout down the phone at the voice message lady telling me to choose between options that don’t meet my needs. It doesn’t work.

The clerk at the grocery store was having an aggravating issue getting her paycheck. I heard her say she wanted someone to speak with who spoke English. I hope she gets the issue straightened out. She's one of the good clerks. I'd hate for her to look for work somewhere else.

I hate when I get someone who can't speak good English. I'm constantly saying, "Sorry?"..."Sorry?"...

It works all the time.
