I have a whole drawer of socks, some never before worn. People just keep giving me socks. Why? I don't know. I may still have a mismatched pair of woolen gym socks from high school in there. I know I have knee socks from the 70s. I made a door draftstopper with the tops of a bunch of worn-out socks and used the toes for stuffing. And I can safely bet on getting more socks at the Centre's Christmas party. They always include socks in their gift bags. Anybody need socks?

I'm lucky, no one gives me socks. I did buy some a while back but they're so tight in the ankle area that I have a hard time putting them on. I think I'll give the ones I haven't worn yet to the crisis center and maybe try to find socks that aren't so hard to put on.

I can't win on that score: either they're too tight at the ankle or they won't stay up!

@rebelann Oh yeah, the dreaded toe seams. Hate those.

I got some a couple years ago at TJ Maxx but I have to turn them inside out because of the thread they used to sew up the toe. It's a shame that my mom didn't think to teach me how to sew or cook.

Socks, I guess, just tend to be a good go-to gift since they are easy to get the size right and everyone can use them. I never get socks though. Hmm. lol. But I do often get socks for my wife. I usually have quite a few pair on hand, though. A habit from my bachelor days, I guess, when if you had enough underwear and socks you could make less frequent trips to the laundry. In any event, I do usually keep a pack of new ones because sometimes I have to replace a pair and it's good to keep the numbers right for me.

Too often I get socks that are too big.

@BarBaraPrz I guess for the most part I can pretty accurately guess what size someone's feet are and since socks are usually in steps of three sizes, it makes it easier. But I guess some people can get it wrong.

I don’t own a lot of socks myself, but the ones I do have sure come in handy during winter.

I have too many socks also. I have alot of black socks, but some other colours as well, grey, brown, navy, some white socks. My favorite are made with bamboo, they keep my feet warm, and I could throw the rest of them out as I never wear anything but the bamboo ones. Or I could make a draft stopper.

Draft stoppers are good to have, especially with the rising cost of heating...

Wow they sure have lasted you a long time. That’s such a neat idea to use them to make door draft stoppers.

Always, since many of mine are Nicoed. Socks from HS? Wow, have you always lived in the same house or something? I can't even imagine that.

Nope, but wool gym socks last a loooong time, especially if you only wear them in your boots when you leave HS.

Love the photo. We got rid of a lot of stuff in our Purge of 2014. Even some things by mistake.

LOL--I may not have as many socks as you do, but my problem is that I can never seem to get an actual pair of socks in or out of the wash! 9 times out of 10 I'm wearing mismatched socks.

I have about 50 pairs of socks. Where I worked they were on clearance and I sold at the Flea Market every weekend. I got the socks for six cents each. I got 2 gross of socks for six cents a pair and sold them for a $1 a pair. I sold all of the socks that weekend. From there every store was calling me to buy the clearance socks so I did. When done I kept two dozen for me.

@BarBaraPrz There is no permanent Flea Market here. The one that was open every other weekend shut down. Now there is only pop up ones. But I do sell at the pop up ones.

That is such a cute picture you posted. I also have a drawer full of socks which I rarely wear. I'm a barefoot person unless I have to put on socks and shoes to go somewhere.

I prefer going barefoot too but not in the winter. If I had infloor heating, that'd be so nice, but I don't.
