A 3D jigsaw is on my to-do list

We went to visit my sister recently. We weren’t able to go at Christmas so we exchanged gifts this visit. I received a 3D jigsaw puzzle which you can see in the photo. It’s a hedgehog and I’m looking forward to attempting to work it out. Luckily, there is an instruction leaflet which tells me there are 56 pieces. Each piece is numbered and you follow the numbers to make the hedgehog. The puzzle was made in Hong Kong and the English instructions are much better than you might expect them to be. But they still made me smile. Here is what it says: “Just follow the order of the puzzle pieces, the puzzle can be fixed easily. It would be very interesting, challenging to one’s mind if fixing without looking at this instruction sheet.” I remember instructions on the back of a crochet pattern telling me to ‘squeeze the lace tenderly’ if I needed to wash the piece.

I have been looking for a 3-D puzzle for my hubby, without any luck, for a couple of years now. Enjoy working on this one.

@JudyEv Have you tried youtubing it to see if you can get some tips there?

@Juliaacv There is a diagram of all the pieces and each is numbered in the order in which to place them but they don't seem to fit as they should.

That is cute. The kids got me an angel one years back. I gave up and read the cheat sheet

@JudyEv That's what my angel one had but they were all flat pieces that just stacked on each other.

@wolfgirl569 These are 'bumpy' and not just flat. And the bits that should slot into each other don't seem to want to do that. But I'll keep trying.

There is no real cheat sheet with this. Just a diagram with each piece numbered to tell you the order but so far they don't seem to fit properly.

I hope you have a lot of fun putting that puzzle together. Are you going to try to assemble it without reading instructions?

There are no written instructions, just diagrams of each piece and the order in which you have to assemble them. And they don't seem to be fitting together too well.

I've never attempted a 3D puzzle but it looks fun and cute. I'm not one to look at instructions and just forge ahead when doing something. Never works and I always have to go back and see where I went wrong

@JudyEv now i try to have someone else assemble something so I don't have to do it and they have to struggle with the whole project.

With age, we eventually learnt that sometimes it pays to read the instructions.

It's proving very difficult. I've managed to get about ten of the 56 pieces into place but I'm stuck now. I'll try again tomorrow.

I wish I could do the jigsaw puzzle I have but not with the cats around. I do want to go back to drawing and coloring which always relaxed me but I have not done in ages, I have an art cabinet full of stuff but I stay with my first love the PC,

The instruction sheet isn't helping much. It gives the order in which to use the pieces but they don't fit very well together.

Quite a number of similar pieces with the hedgehog spikes. That should be a challenge. I put together 1000-piece puzzles during the wintertime when I'm stuck indoors. Usually takes me about a month working on and off on them. It's a great way to pass the time and tax the brain muscles a bit. It's rewarding when you reach the final pieces! Have fun

It is funny to see how non English speakers try to describe things sometimes. A 3D puzzle sounds like a challenge, but interesting.

Mike's mom did some 3 D puzzles before. She enjoyed them. She still does regular puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She's 91, and the one I had to take to the emergency room last night. I hope you'll show us the completed hedgehog when you are done.
