Can You Say a Prayer Please?

Hubby went out on the porch last night to pick up a package and fell backwards off the porch, landing face down in the dirt. I could hear his cries of pain; and I went to the front door. He tried to get up and couldn't. Finally he told me to call 911. When the ambulance came, they found that he had hurt his neck and shoulders really bad. He couldn't put his head down flat. They cut off his shirt, put a collar on him and put him on a gurney. I called the hospital later on and found out he didn't break anything; but because he doesn't take his medications as he should, he was in AFIB and his lungs were full of fluid. They have put him on intravenous Lasix to get rid of the fluid and admitted him. They said he could be in the hospital for a couple of days. When the nurse called me last night, she said that they were having trouble controlling his pain. I will try and call him today. I can't even put on my own socks and shoes; and the hospital is quite a drive from our house; so I can't go and visit. Our housekeeper offered to take me to see him; so we shall see. Would appreciate any prayers or thoughts for him. Thank you. Photo Credit: Pixabay

@just4him OK. They did some more tests and may have discovered something in his heart. I don't know what yet. He had open heart surgery in 2004; and he has AFIB. That's all I know.

My prayers are with you both, hopefully he will recover fast and also learn to pay attention to what the doctor tells him to do and take his meds ....... some people can really be stubborn about meds.

He reminds me of my mom, she was always in denial and refused to use her walker or cane then she would fall but thankfully she usually fell on soft grassy areas.

Thank you. He also needs to use a cane. He thinks he doesn't need one. Plus we need to put a railing on the porch. He's been procrastinating about that.

Oh no! What caused him to fall? I hope you got to see your husband in the hospital. Hopefully, they can control the fluid in his lungs.

He lost his balance. There is no railing on the porch because he procrastinated about getting it done.

@MommyOfEli2013 I'm just glad he didn't break anything; but he wrenched his neck pretty bad; and he had a neck injury years ago which made it worse.

@LadyDuck His neck is really bad; but that is made worse by a mine accident he had many years ago. A bunch of rock from the top of the salt shaft fell on his head and jammed his neck.

I feel helpless and miserable reading this. I am deeply sorry. Have you looked into easy to put on socks? I have seen reacher devices, too, to help with such matters. I have trouble with stuff like that. Hugs and more hugs and tons of prayers for the both of you. I'm glad you have the offer of a ride.

@LindaOHio American Disabilities Act. I think there must be help. Please speak up for yourself. Please ask or better yet, insist that you have the right to go see your Dearest. A hospital should be a place of compassion and help. Hugs from me.

Thank you so much, Lenore. Even if I could put on my shoes and socks, I couldn't walk to the entrance and then get a wheelchair ride to his room. Do they do that?

@LindaOHio How has he developed fluid in his lungs from the fall backwards? That must be so frightening for him at the time. May healing and health be returned to your husband. Added him in my prayer calendar and alarm clock. Thank you for the update, Linda.

They say he probably has hospital delirium. He has had to be under restraint and under sedation. Going to visit him tomorrow. I update every day.

I hope you get to see him and spend some time with him. What an awful situation. At the same time, perhaps fateful in that as a result other things were caught. I will keep the both of you well within my thoughts and do keep us posted.

Thanks, Jim. I probably won't be able to see him. Someone would have to take me and stay there the whole time. Not happening. I'm glad they caught the fluid in his lungs. Posted an update today.
