Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an early spring; and that's quite alright with me!!! 46 days until spring. The sun came out for a little bit this morning. I'll take it! Four people in Washington state have tested positive for a rare fungal infection that could be deadly. Candida auris is resistant to common antifungal medications and tends to infect those with weakened immune systems. Often it's found among hospital patients who have catheters, breathing tubes or feeding tubes. You can be colonized with the fungus and spread it to others without being sick. It was first identified in Japan in 2009. As of December, 2022, the fungus has been identified in 36 states. The mortality rate of severe Candida auris is 30-60% but healthy people usually don't get infected. The fungus can live on surfaces for at least 2 weeks. Finally was able to speak to my hubby last night. Could only understand about 25% of what he was saying. Don't know if it's the meds or what. He hasn't heard anything about a release date or how he's doing. Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts!! Breakfast - Protein bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - BBQ rib sandwich, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, applesauce Dinner - (our housekeeper brought me dinner) - Bean burger, pasta salad, mac and cheese What did you eat yesterday? Weekend immune systems???? lol I'm sorry about your husband. I think I missed a discussion of yours somewhere along the line. Is he okay? What happened? I would be happy to pray for him if you'd like.

@LindaOHio oh goodness Linda, I’m so sorry to hear this. I really hope he is going to be okay, and that the doctors get everything figured out. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers.

Whoops. Must fix that. He fell off the porch backwards and landed face down in the dirt. They took him by ambulance to the hospital. He didn't break anything; but he was in a lot of pain. They did discover that because he doesn't take his meds the way he should, his lungs were full of fluid and he was in AFIB. They did some more testing; and may have found something in his heart. I don't know what. He had open heart surgery in 2004 and has AFIB. That's all I know. I will post an update when I hear more.

I am glad you could talk to your husband, I think that part of his difficulties to talk is because of the medications. I hope he will not have to stay too long in the hospital.

@LadyDuck His neck hurts quite a bit. He injured it years ago in a salt mining accident; and wrenching it when he fell didn't help.

It's terrible that there's another deadly virus. I'm glad you could talk to your husband last night. Your food looks good. Yesterday I had Raisin Bran for breakfast and baked spaghetti casserole and pistachio torte for lunch/dinner. I ate nothing else for the rest of the day.

I hope that he isn't in terrible pain still. You could probably call the hospital and ask for the nurse's station on the floor he is on. That usually works for me, to check on my son if I come home to rest when he is in the hospital. That was nice that she brought you a good dinner, I'm sure it was welcome.

He was walking around a little bit today. His neck is still really bad; but he injured it on the job years ago. Wrenching it when he fell didn't help.

@LindaOHio When a person falls backwards, they can really hurt the neck without breaking bones. I just hope he isn't in pain, and that you can see him soon. If he doesn't get to come home, maybe your helper can take you to see him. That would probably be the best medicine of all for him.

I bet those meds do make a person loopy. I’ll keep praying. Yesterday, I had onion rings, half a lamb gyro, popcorn, and a mandarin orange.

Probably not. I can't walk from the car to the hospital; and then someone has to take me with a wheelchair to his room.

I'm ready for an early spring! Glad that you were able to talk to your hubby and hope you can get some idea of what's going on and when he'll be released. Will you be able to talk to the doctor at some point?

That sounds a very nasty disease. And highly contagious it seems if it can live on surfaces for so long.
