3/19/24 - Update on My Husband

I called the rehab facility three times yesterday; and it wasn't until the third call that they told me my husband doesn't have a phone. Sheesh! Apparently they only give phones to long-term residents. I will have to bring him his cell phone so he can call me. We don't want to run the battery down; so he won't be leaving it on so I can call him. Last night I got a call from one of the nurses. Hubs had asked her to call me to let me know that he was OK. That was nice of both of them. She's going to possibly give him her cell phone tonight so he can call me. The nurse was amazed that he was so alert. She remembers him when he had his "hospital delirium". I will find out how his swollen arm is doing when I talk to him tonight. I will also check on how his physical therapy went. Hopefully I will be seeing him next week. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Photo Credit: Pixabay

The best for your husband would be one of those cellphones for seniors that you can keep on a recharge base all the time and you can call you simply pushing one button.

@LindaOHio I think that Amazon sells them. I bought the one of my husband at a Swiss online store.

@LindaOHio It's called a Jitterbug and they are great when people have problems with their hands. I got one for my aunt and she loved it, her hands were so arthritic she couldn't do much at all with them.

Oh, heck. He needs a decent phone that holds a charge, or else maybe an extra long charging cord. Can you have the cousin pick one up for him maybe? It would probably make him feel better, I imagine. Do you ever get the chance to talk to his doctors, etc? I guess I am the nosy sort, I always talk to son's doctors. To be fair, he asked me to do that, he says they often throw too much information at him at once and no one person can remember it all. I hope you can get there to see him very soon.

One of his doctors called me a couple of times before he was transferred to rehab. He has a pretty good phone.

@LindaOHio Well, that’s good. I know it’s important that they communicate with you about his condition.

@MarieCoyle Rehab is not going to be as simple. They have to set up a conference call to get feedback from all involved...but it does work.

@BarBaraPrz lol Spoke to the head honcho at the facility. She said I could call AT&T and have them install a phone. Really?!! That's not a good solution!

I hope you will be able to communicate with him over the phone. It's not the same as seeing him in person but it's still better than no contact at all.

@porwest You probably read my update. AT&T would have to come in and actually install a phone. There would be installation charges, etc. just to have a phone for another 3 weeks. I will bring him his cell phone.
