5/29/24 - Update on My Husband

Yesterday I left a message for the head of the Physical Therapy Department but did not get a call back. If I don't hear from him, I will call my favorite Social Worker and see if she can set something up for me. My husband is in good spirits. He said he had an "average" PT workout after spending 3 days in bed. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

That's a good start. Physiotherapy and early rehabilitation can really help a lot. Praying for his quick recovery.

Oh dear, I do hope you can get something going on that. If they don't get back with you maybe check with the helpful ombudsman again or the APS, or the Area on Aging. I know you don't want to make enemies with them, but they need to get their head in the game.

Every one of them is terrible about returning calls; but I keep calling until I catch one of them in his/her office.

Light a fire under those people!! He sounds like he is in good spirts and that is a PLUS! I hope things are resolved quickly. It is a shame they have to waste other people's time.

They use the excuse that they are busy. Everyone is busy. When I was working I had to make sure I returned calls ASAP. Being busy is not an excuse.

@LindaOHio Exactly right. You can't put everything on hold until you catch up of all the other neglected things around there and I'm guessing that is 99.9% of everything there from the sound of that place.

Were you surprised that you didn't get a callback? Have you thought about going over the PTD's head? I would be feeling pretty unhelped by this time. What does this person do all day that they can return a phone call? Or, are they just tired of telling you they won't do anything?

@LindaOHio If I were you I would just call her every day, at least once. Maybe she will get tired of the calls and actually return one. Good grief.

So, they didn't work him on Monday like they said they would. I'm glad it was at least an average workout. I hope you can get hold of your favorite social worker today.

No. No PT on Monday. I'll give him this morning to call back before I call the Social Worker.

Maybe it would work better to have an in-house meeting with them? You can request that and they can’t say no. I realize it’s difficult for you to get there, just thought it might be more effective!

I’d bother with the PT department more. There’s no telling what your “pal” will tell them if they make the arrangements.
