Authorities in Stafford County Viriginia have no idea how a four foot snake managed to get into a box of books that were donated by a customer at a Goodwill store that caught the attention of an employee inside the store.
The incident took place earlier this week when the employee contacted the Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) about the incident.
A captain of animal control came to the Goodwill store and he managed to use his powers of charm to get the basilisk out of the store and release it on the wild unharmed.
I am sure the animal control captain was happy to answer a call about a snake entering the Goodwill store since no one was hurt in the incident.

Years ago, one of my Dad's friends had a snake come down his fireplace. It scared the family so bad. Glad no one was bitten, snakes are just sneaky.

I do not like messing around with a snake either.

Either the snake wanted to books or he wanted to donate himself to Goodwill,

Sneaky, slithery snake. I am glad no one panicked and he was released unharmed.

It is nice to hear that no one was hurt, neither human nor reptile.

I would have had a heart attack if I had opened the box and seen that snake

I would scream myself if I saw a snake inside of a box myself.

Perhaps the old books were in an old shed for years, with the snake using it for a warm home, and then the owner finally decided to get rid of the books, without further checking. This person was lucky that the snake did not escape into her car, when she brought the box of books to the donation centre.
An interesting case of a snake in the box.

I'm glad no one was injured, including the snake.
