9/26/24 - Update On My Husband

No call from my husband last night. Read through all of the pages for the next appeal. So confusing. I'm going to have to call them for assistance in filling out the required form. Called the grab bar guy again. Turns out he said $160-170 not $60. I guess that's better than $250. I want to talk to my husband about that. Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

Yeah, I guess at least it’s not $250, as you mentioned. It seems ridiculous it’s been so hard to get people to help you with this grab bar.

I can imagine that those appeal papers would be confusing. I hope someone can help you with them. I think about you every day Linda and wish I lived closer.

It is probably well worth the price to get it done right.

He probably did say $60 initially then decided he’d jack the price up. (I’m such a pessimistic person, aren’t I?)

That is a lot of money to put in a grab bar.

I may not have any other choice. I"ve checked with quite a few people. Originally the charge was $59 (Angi); but my Walmart order kept getting canceled. Then it was $89 (Angi) through Lowe's; and they couldn't find anyone to take the job. Sigh.

@LindaOHio This is a molded fiberglass shower, right? I am thinking that is why it's more, as working on them isn't easy...the workers have to know what they are doing, if it has to be drilled into they need certain tools, etc. It's honestly easier to work with tile than fiberglass. You are right, you may just have to pay the higher price, I'm sure sorry.

@MarieCoyle that's exactly what I was going to say Marie. My son installed grab bars in my fiberglass shower and had to use some sort of bolts to drill into the studs. Otherwise it's not secure and could easily let loose.

Getting help is a good idea. That's still a decent price if he gets it done

Even $160 would be worth it to have grab bars.
