10/17/24 - Update On My Husband

My husband is liking the hospital...a big room all to himself, they answer the calls in about 2 minutes, it's quiet and the food isn't bad.
Called the appeals office to get help in filling out the form for the next appeal. They haven't called back.
Looked up the care facility that the social worker from the hospital suggested. They are 4-1/2 stars. The place that my husband was in is 3 stars. The new place isn't close; but it will have to do. I hope it's quieter, has good food and good physical therapy. The place that my husband was in once before and wanted to go back to doesn't accept long term residents. They are 5 stars.
Since my husband has been in the hospital for at least 3 days, he can go to a care facility and be covered by insurance for 100 days. So I'm hoping we will not have to pay for a while. Hubby thinks he's going to be home to cook a turkey. That's wishful thinking.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts. I have received offers of help from more than one member now...you are all so generous and special. I can't tell you what that means to me.

It sounds as if the social worker there at the hospital knows her business. I am glad she is helping with referrals.

I am just hoping that my husband doesn't have to go back to that other place.

I won't be able to see the facility before he's transferred there. It was the only option available other than the place he just came from. A lot of other places wouldn't take our insurance.

Yeah, wishful thinking for sure. I think his home days are over as much as it pains me to say that. I am glad you found a better place and can get some of it covered for some time. Best of luck to you, and like I have said before, I wish this homecoming would have gone differently, but at the same time, something more catastrophic might have happened, so thank Heaven's it didn't. As painful as it is, sometimes what's best is not always exactly what we desire.
Not that it is at all on the same level, leaving my six-figure sales job was bittersweet, but quite necessary.

I’m thankful he’s not going back to the other place! And how’s the treatment of his AFIB going?

His heart rate is normal now. He may still have to go there if he doesn't get accepted anywhere else.

That would be good if the place was good, for the stars they have then.... Better than a 3 star place.... that is good he'll be covered for a while

So he's thinking positively. Would you rather have him mope about never going home again?

Not at all. I'm just speaking from my viewpoint. I think it will be a couple of months before he can try to come home again.

4.5 stars rehab sounds very good indeed. Maybe he can actually get somewhere, and if not,at least it should be a pleasant place to be. Poor hubby..

It's good that your husband can go to the facility better than the old one.
