How many hours do you sleep at night?

Today I read some news that people who sleep 9 or more hours a night are more attractive.
I sleep between 6 and 8 hours, but never 9, not even on vacation! I guess I need to change this
One of my goals for this year was to go to bed earlier at night, but I haven't been successful. I sleep a little earlier, but it is only about 30 minutes.
I have always heard that the ideal number of hours of sleep is 8 for an adult but it seems now that if we want to improve the way we look we should sleep a little bit more

I think we share a thing in common. Once I wake up after sound sleep, I also rarely go back to sleep!

The only reason, and it is a huge reach, for long sleepers to be more attractive is because they would not have dark circles under their eyes.
I usually get about five hours of sleep, but I function best with seven. Last night I shockingly slept eight.

@AmbiePam, It's the same for me as well. Mostly I sleep between 5 and 6 hours. It's very rare with me that I exceed 7 hours.

@SIDIKIMPOLE I do not think that 5 hours in a row is good and most of the time I only manage 3 hours.

@LadyDuck I tend to agree with you, but some of us can hardly make two hours in a row.

Minimum of 5 hours up to 6 hours for me. I would be happy if I can get 7 hours on weekdays.

Attractiveness usually depends on one's mood, i agree with you! Otherwise i do not think attractiveness has anything to do with sleeping long.

I get 8 hours of sleep. Go to bed around 11-11:30 and wake up around 8-7:30. I think as we get older, we don't need as much sleep. Although, I like your idea of getting some beauty sleep.

@dgobucks226 is it easy for you to go back to sleep when you wake up at 6?

@nela13 Yes, although some mornings I don't feel so beautiful.
Sometimes I awake around 6 or so to use the bathroom. If I do I get less sleep. But I average about 7-8 most nights.

I can sleep for 12 hours if I am alone in the house. With my mom around, it's not possible. Every morning she wakes me up with a cup of tea

This is the discussion I was looking for. And that's quite helpful. You have mentioned a few things that really match what I've also heard about.
The first thing is about the number of hours of sleep. I've heard one should get at least 6-8 hours of sleep. Adults should have at least 8 hours. I get less than 6 hours at times. That happens if I sleep a bit late.
Secondly, I don't think 9 hours of sleep is possible even for (lazy) adults
I just meant to say, 9 hours is too much of sleep. And that's easily sufficient. More than enough actually.
Thirdly, I've also heard that the ideal number of sleep hours should be 8. That does sufficiently good to the body. So yeah!
And I'm keeping the best for the last. As far as looks are concerned, yes, sufficient sleep makes your body gain the necessary rest and that's good enough to show on your face. It really does reflect.
But see, inspite of me knowing these many things, I still retire to bed almost at 1 am. Time for me to change the schedule a bit.

@abhi_bangal well, usually 8 hours are enough for me but lately it is difficult and sometimes I do the same mistake as you and go to bed at 1am.
I know it is awful and I also need to change this schedule.

I have a very poor sleeping pattern. Well, my sleep depends on days of the week and the kind of tasks I have and how urgent they have to be finished. Some days I sleep for 3-4 hours, others I sleep for 5-6 hours. But never 7 and above. However when I am traveling a long distance, I can sleep in the bus for most of the traveling time.

@nela13 Nope, I do not sleep much in the bus, but I think sleeping 1 hour during the day and 3-4 hours at night is a great idea.

I used to sleep more than 9 hours per night, can't tell if I was more attractive but I was definitely more tired. The more I sleep, the more tired I am during the day, so I stick with 6 to 8 hours too with the help of alarms. After all, I just wanna be active and feel good, I don't see my own face most of the day.
