Regular or Wavy

Perhaps it is one life's great debates when it comes to potato chips, which most of us enjoy eating. How do you prefer them? The crispy, thin regular ones? Or the sturdier wavy ones? For some it comes down to how they will eat them. If they are going to dip them, the wavy ones just work better than the thin ones do. Personally, I am a fan of the wavy ones any way I will eat them, and they are the only variety of potato chip I will buy, aside from kettle cooked which I do like as well. I just don't eat them as often, although for a while I preferred them. When it came to kettle cooked, Cape Cod and Poore Brother's were my absolute favorite with Jay's Krunchers mostly being in my pantry because they were cheaper and just as good. So, kettle cooked aside, how do you prefer your chips? Regular thin ones or wavy?

I pretty much only eat tortilla chips. Most chips are so unhealthy, if I am going to blow my diet, I prefer to blow it with something better than chips. I used to like them more than I do now. But not much anymore.

@MarieCoyle I love tortilla chips to dip into my chilli. Takes it to another level. “Conglomeration” That’s got to be the word of the day. Love it!

I do like tortilla chips, but hardly ever eat them. On the rare occasion I like to have them with salsa. 99% of the time for me it's potato chips or pretzels.

@LooeyVille I often bake my own tortilla chips, they are really good. Honestly, chips are a conglomeration of a lot of salt, oil, and chemicals, with very little being nutritious at all. And they are wildly expensive. If I am ever tempted to spend $6-$7 on a bag of Doritos, I will re-evalute what I am buying and eating. To me, they don't even taste good.

I prefer thin ones but I won’t say no to the wavy ones. I do not eat chips often though. I prefer baked treats like pies, turnovers, danishes, etc.

I don't have a sweet tooth, so when I am after a snack, 99.9% of the time it's something savory.

@porwest Sometimes with right saltiness I love eating them without dipping. But I love half cooked potatoes with a bland taste. Mashed potatoes are yummy tooo... this post is making me crave for one, I think I will ask my mom to make a mashed potato later.

Chips are sort of made for dipping, aren't they?

It's like you said in your second paragraph, it depends on how I am eating them. Overall, my preference is the thin, regular ones, but I will eat the wavy or ridged ones if I am dipping them.

@porwest Oh yes, multiple fingers in the dip is just gross. So is double dipping. Nothing is more frustrating that having a chip break off in the dip. lol

Now, for me personally, I hardly ever even buy the thin ones. But so long as they can go in my mouth, I will eat either, either. lol. But yes, dipping almost demands wavy. I cannot stand broken chips in my dip or getting my fingers dirty fishing them out even if I can still lick my fingers. Besides, multiple fingers in dips in the case of guests would be kind of... Gross. lol Especially if Uncle Larry is over who, when he shows up, you are constantly inclined to ask him if the water company shut his water off.

@moffittjc Double dipping is fine if it's just me dipping. But if I am sharing...just don't do it. lol

I love both. However I love them to be crispy and spicy. Before travrlling I have them in my bag and eat them with tea.

I thought was going to be a discussion about your hair! We call them crisps over here, but I don’t mind regular or wavy. I don’t eat them very often and it’s usually just the regular ones when I do. I’ve turned to nuts as my preferred snack. Much healthier, so I’ve been told, so I don’t feel guilty eating them. Cashews (bless you) are my favourites, but expensive, so it’s usually peanuts for me.

That's not a terrible price. I always buy Kroger. The wavy ones. They just happen to be cheaper than Great Value, but if Great Value ever becomes cheaper, I would definitely buy them instead.

I'm just like you and prefer the wavy ones. Maybe subconsciously i picked the wavy ones because everyone else likes thin and I never have to share

I hardly ever buy the wavy ones. I don't often buy any to be honest, although I do like the kettle type if I'm having a sandwich lunch on a journey or something. But if I were at a party or whatever I would basically pick a few of whatever were on offer!

Wavy, though I bought the regular cheap ones for my open house. I don't eat chips often, so they'll be hanging around for a while unless I can give them away.

A lot of people do. Based on the markets, thin chips sell more than the wavy ones do. But I still prefer the wavy ones.

I'll eat them either way; but I find the wavy ones saltier, which I don't prefer. Have a good day.
