Boring person

I am giving each of the kids in my classroom a new container of playdoh. I figure they will get enough candy and sweet treats elsewhere for Valentine's Day. I got Bob a new slim travel cup that will fit well in the vehicles. Some health conscious people will tell you that sugar lowers your immune system. It may be correct. So we are going to sugar up for a holiday and make more people sick. Right now, I really do not think it will make much difference. We are just all sick. I saw a fourth grade teacher in Dollar General. She has been sick and her comment was that even when you recover you keep on coughing and it just does not feel like you are at your best. It is time for this boring person to put on shoes, brush her hair and her teeth and get to school. Have a great day, everyone. Happy Valentine's Day.

I'd call you creative, not boring... The last few Halloweens we were allowed to pass out candy in our city, I gave small toys and flashlights to the kids who came to our house. I figured they would get plenty of candy from the other houses they visited. Several of the parents thanked me for not giving more candy.

@sallypup Thank you. I had fun going through several catalogs and finding different small items that weren't too expensive and passing those out. Little flashlights were only about $1 each and the kids could use those right away to help light them up so any passing cars could see them easier. We also gave out glow sticks and put those on the kids before they left our house... I got enough of them to give some to the adults, too. (Glow sticks were even cheaper at 30 for $1 from Oriental Trading Post.)

@DaddyEvil I love it. Your idea is a lot more fun for you than just grabbing a bag of sugar from a store shelf.

@GardenGerty I would be happy if I am a kid in school and out of nowhere I get a free new set of playdoh.

What? No Playdoh for Bob? I bet he'd get a kick out of it.

Nope. If we want playdoh here I will make us some, that is even better. Maybe he would model a car out of it.

Playing with playdoh seems to calm many of them down.

@snowy22315 We do not have any regular clay. I have made air dry clay for the classroom. Clay is harder to work but these are pretty little kids. Some of them work with theraputty at times.

@GardenGerty Do they like regular clay? I am thinking that might strengthen their hands.

That is a bit worrying that everyone is so sick. I wonder if it is some new kind of flu or whatever.

@JudyEv I had the shot for RSV and the booster for Covid but never get the flu shot. Pretty got all three shots when I got them. I hope they work, too.

My doctor's office said they were swamped with people with flu, Covid 19 and RSV here in our area. Instead of getting me back in within a couple of days, they had to reschedule me for over two weeks out. Of course, I don't know whether that's the same illnesses that Heather is talking about in their schools but they're the illnesses that closed the school here.

@DaddyEvil Goodness, that sounds pretty serious. We've recently had jabs for RSV. Hope they work.

I get my flu shot every year and I am convinced it helps my immunity. Some would argue, but it works for me.

I enjoyed playing with Play Doh but mom kept reminding me not to eat the stuff. Luckily it was salty and not very tempting.

The play-dough was a great idea, they always get enough sweets anyway. Our ER's and Urgent Care places are swamped and have been for several weeks.
