Where can that light switch be?

Another interesting feature about house-sitting is working out eg how the stove/washing machine/vacuum cleaner works. Where do they keep the tea-towels? Where are the light switches? Power points?
In this house there is a remote control for the light and fan in the master bedroom but they won’t work unless the switch on the wall is in the ‘on’ position. But one that stumped me for a while was the light in the middle of the lounge. I pushed every button in the lounge trying to turn the light off but none worked. So I went round and tried all the switches again. Eventually I worked out that the ‘light’ is actually a skylight and doesn’t get switched off. Duh!
The photo is of one of the mosaic pots that are on the verandah.

The sun wouldn't turn off from switches in the house? I'd report that to the owners when they come home!
Wow! That's a "bright" pot! Not sure I'd like that for myself.

You think so? I would call it jarring to the eye.

@DaddyEvil I really like bright colours. That makes me buy rubics cubes even knowing well I can solve none

It takes a while to get things figured out when you move to a new house.

Very cheerful planter. I have engaged with the mysteries of light switches in the past.

Ha, I thought you were going to say that you found the light switch in the vase.

@JudyEv I have panels of light switches in here. I have lived here almost 20 years, and seems I am always flipping the wrong one. I am glad nobody sees me. It's embarrassing.

@snowy22315 I think Vince sometimes worries about me but I've given up getting too flustered. if one doesn't work, then it must be the other!!

If they were there on the day you arrived they could have shown you around to make life easy for you.

That pot is beautiful. I agree: smart homes are too smart for some of us!

@JudyEv — just about the time you’re feeling at home the house sitting will be over.

I remember being totally confused when I first arrived in the US. A colleague invited me to stay with her. I had bought myself an electric alarm clock (didn't want to be late my first day!) so I plugged it in, got ready for bed and turned the light out. Then I looked at the clock - it had gone off!
I got up again, turned the light on and went to investigate; the clock was on again. So I thought there must have been some sort of power glitch. I turned the light out, got into bed and looked at the clock - it was off.
I must have gone through this routine three times before I finally twigged that the wall switch by the door actually operated the power sockets! (The light in the room was from a lamp, but I hadn't really thought about that). It was the first time I had ever encountered such an arrangement!
I found a different power socket for the clock

It looks easy enough to do really. There are a lot of mosaic bits and pieces around too.

It sounds as if you went into a labyrinth !
The house owner should tell you all about that.

@changjiangzhibin89 Yes, that's what happened - and I couldn't work out why I couldn't turn the 'light' off. lol

I would do the same thing., Look for the switch and try all the switches in the house.
The mosaic pot is colorful.

@jobelbojel There is always at least one hiccup. Once it's happened, then I can relax more.

There is a glass-covered hole in the lounge ceiling which goes through to the roof. This lets in sunlight through the day and makes the room a lot less dark.
