Trip to Urgent Care

My husband finally showed me his foot Monday after not realizing that he had a sore or a diabetic ulcer on the bottom of his foot. I was horrified to see that it was all infected Sunday.
I got it all cleaned up for him and put some antibiotic on it and covered with a large bandaid to keep it clean. Monday morning when I went to dress it again, all of the redness had disappeared. This was good.
I told him to go ahead and call his diabetic doctor and ask how it should be treated so we could correct anything done wrong going forward. He didn't do that until Tuesday morning.
His doctor advised him to go to urgent care to get an oral antibiotic to be taking in the period of time he has to wait for a wound care appointment. They will do an accessment and probably a debrasion, as that helps the sore to heal.
That is how we spent yesterday afternoon.
How did you spend yours?

@wolfgirl569 I told him he needs to make one Monday morning. We both have cardiologist annual check ups on Monday too. Looks like we will be busy making rounds of doctor appointments for awhile now.

@kareng I swear, it's the old people who keep doctors in business.

I hope your husband makes a speedy recovery soon. I spent my afternoon working at home completing surveys and sharing news stories.

Unfortunately, this happens when people have diabetic neuropathy and don't have a lot of feeling in their feet/legs. You will probably have to play the policewoman/doctor role and demand to see his feet and legs once a day. I know from others who have had this problem that it can get very bad, very quickly. I hope he heals well and fast!

@MarieCoyle I know! He seems to be better today. We both went outside for a little while.
I just noticed that I said knock on wook above.

I hope it heals soon.
Sorry your husband had to suffer that.
Not a great way to spend an afternoon.
I spent mine doing what I love doing most - riding one of my motorbikes with my biker chick wife on the back.
We have been out on one of the bikes almost every day in March and April

It is looking better now. Hopefully, he will continue taking his medicine and get a followup appointment with wound care. I have a feeling that is going to be like pulling teeth.
Nice weather for biking here right now and I am assuming for you too!!

@Ineeddentures Well, I've been on bed rest this week with the sprained ankle and still no solution on what's going on with my leg. It's either a pinched nerve or sciatic nerve problem. So we have both been taking it easy this week.

Oh, dear. That’s scary. I’m glad he went to the Urgent Care. I hope he heals quickly.
I spent my day is the Tulsa area a few hours away. I got my medicine (they don’t have here), and my “chauffeur” father tore his calf muscle which he discovered when he had to go to the ER after we got home.

Well, that sounds not nice. Yesterday, I took the new car into town and got it registered and titled.

Being that I am pre-diabetic, I often examine my feet very closely for any signs of changes. My doctor told me that diabetics usually have feet issues that go unnoticed. I hope everything turns out well for your husband and that he recovers completely from this incident.

@kareng I've heard lots of horror stories about people having to have their feet or toes amputated. I don't ever want to be in that boat.

One of my children’s grandmothers lost both feet from this. She lived for 15 years in a wheelchair. She did wake up finally, but didn’t go to the doctor or see about her problems with the diabetes lesions until it was too late. In those years in the wheelchair, she warned everyone she knew to never neglect sores on their own feet!
Scary for sure, at least now that he knows what could happen, he will take care!!

I'm wishing for your husband's speedy recovery. Yesterday, I was at the office the whole day. I attended a webinar in the morning and prepared some reports in the afternoon.
