And...Away We Go

Well, it's that time again to get the camper back out on the road and into campsites. We got the battery put back in yesterday, loaded up some of the liquid stuff we took out for winter, and did pre-trip setup like adding some clothes and making sure everything is together. Today around 11am we'll head over to the storage site and hook up and away we go to a place about an hour and a half away for an extended weekend through Sunday. Should be a lot of fun as per the usual. We'll be camping with my dad and his wife, and their RV will be parked next to ours. Planning on kebobs tonight for dinner, pulled pork sandwiches on Friday night, and marinated grilled chicken on Saturday night. One of the nights we'll probably hop into the local casino in the area and throw a couple hundred bucks into the machines and see what happens. Been to this location several times and it has become one of my favorite places to camp. Any special plans for you this weekend?

Just be careful driving there and back. I've seen some accidents lately and don't want you in one. "Camping" for me always included a motel room.

@LooeyVille Usually, we're out in the boonies and motels are all that are around.

Thank you. Luckily, the windy days are mostly behind us. It's never fun pulling in high winds, so that should make pulling at least "easier." The "process" can be a bit of a chore, but overall, it's worth it. The thing I like over a hotel room is we have all of "our stuff" and our own comforts, and plus, we're not stuck inside and we can do campfires, which are always relaxing and fun.

@DaddyEvil That's the odd thing about most of the campgrounds we go too. Most are not in the boonies, and you'd think that's where most of them would be. I guess one day we could try boondocking, but it seems like less of a good time. Not sure.

Have a safe trip and a good time. Camping to me sounds like absolute hell. My only camping is a day at the beach.

Oh man, hell would not describe camping for us at all. Admittedly, sometimes pulling and hooking up to the truck and disembarking and hooking everything up at the site can be a chore. But beyond that it's good times, relaxation, campfires and grilled food. We generally make sure it's at least three nights just to make all the "work" worth the while.

@porwest We always could do that at the house. No need to travel to do it.

@NJChicaa But at the same time, it's nice to have a change of scenery and just unwind. We have a lovely deck we enjoy during the summer, plus the pool, but it's just not the same.

Nice, I hope you enjoy your camping trip. Sounds like you will have a great time, plus enjoy great food. And hopefully, you'll win a few dollars at the casino to pay for the trip. I don't have much planned for this weekend. I'm driving to Tampa tonight (2 hours away) to watch a playoff hockey game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers. On Saturday, my girlfriend and I will be attending the spring parade of homes in our community and checking out all the nice houses that are way out of my price range. lol

Nice camper. Sounds like a fun getaway. Anytime you can have a change of scenery, do some fun stuff, and relax is terrific! And a lot less hassle than flying...
