Toasted Coconut Coffee Creamer

Coconut seems to be one of those foods that people either love or hate. I happen to be one of those people who love coconut, and this weekend I came across toasted coconut coffee creamer at the grocery store. I decided to give it a try. Although I love just about all things coconut, I wasn't sure if I would like coffee that is coconut flavored. Yet, I admit I was very surprised when I gave it a try. It seemed to blend/mesh well with the taste of the coffee, and I actually am enjoying it. The coconut flavor is subtle, and I think the fact that it is toasted coconut makes it work well with coffee. Are you a fan of coconut, and have (or would) you ever try a coconut coffee creamer?

Ah coconut!! I love Coconut. I use quite a lot of it cooking curries. And recently I found coffee capsules with Coco it in them so I ordered some. I haven't been brave enough to try them yet but I will do so when we get home after this trip. I have coconut shampoo too. Although I have very little hair to shampoo. If you ever get a chance if you have not already done so, try a Bounty bar.

I think one of the reasons I love curry so much is because of the coconut in it. But I am in the minority in my household; I am the only one who likes coconut, so I am limited in the foods I eat with coconut in it since my girlfriend and daughter don't like coconut. I have not seen Bounty bars in our stores, but I just looked real quick and I can order them from Amazon. I wonder if they are similar to our Mounds or Almond Joy bars, which are both coconut-based candy bars.

@moffittjc Bounty, well, you could see if YouTube has the old Bounty adverts. Coconut filling and chocolate covering. My curries all have coconut in them as Yvonne likes a Korma.

I don't mind coconut but I can't imagine coconut-flavoured coffee.

I felt the same way, I didn't think it would be a good combination, but surprisingly it works well with coffee. I've really been enjoying my coffee with this creamer in it. I don't add a lot of creamer to my coffee, so it's not an overbearing taste. It's very subtle, you can just taste a hint of flavor of the coconut.

I like coconut but wouldn't waste money on anything that's being put in coffee.

@moffittjc I haven't liked coffee since I was around 25 years old. I started dating my first wife and the smell of coffee would make her throw up so I stopped drinking it. When we started getting divorced, I tried drinking it again and it tasted foul! I've tried it several times and it always tasted the same so it's a no-go for me!

Do you drink your coffee black? I used to put tons of sugar and creamer in my coffee in the past, but these days I only put a small dab, just enough to give it a little sweet flavor. The bitterness of black coffee just makes me want to vomit.

Is it flavored with coconut or made from them?

It's just flavored with coconut. With my luck, it probably contains no actual coconut at all, and is probably just artificially flavored, like it seems everything is nowadays.

@lovebuglena It says naturally and artificially flavored, which in truth means it's mostly artificially flavored.

@moffittjc hopefully it’s not artificially flavored.

I am one of those in the "I don't like coconut" camp. I also take my coffee black.

@porwest I used to dump tons of sugar and creamer into my coffee, but I'm slowly working my way to using less and less. But I don't think I'll ever give it up completely. I've tried black coffee before, I thought I was going to puke when I tasted it.

For some reason, I knew (well, suspected) that you were not a fan of coconut. I'm slowly trying to work my way to drinking black coffee, but right now I cannot stand the taste of black coffee. Maybe around the time I'm 103 I'll finally like the taste.

@moffittjc It's not for everyone. Heck, my sister is a "coffee snob," and she puts so much crap in her coffee it's not even coffee anymore. lol

I have had coconut coffee and enjoyed it. I don't use creamers and don't care for them, so I know I won't try coconut creamer. I do like coconut desserts very much, such as pies and cakes, macaroons, etc.

I hated coconut as a child, just hated it. As I got older I tolerated it, but now I really like it. I think the product you described sounds amazingly good.

@AmbiePam The funny thing is, my grandmother had mango trees as well, and I hated mangos. Just the thought of them made me want to vomit. And my brother hated coconuts. So we'd go outside and I'd eat coconuts, and he'd eat mangos. Funny how we both had completely different tastes! These days, I am still not a fan of the mango fruit, but I love anything that is mango flavored. I think it is the texture and sliminess of mangos that really bother me.

Some of my earliest memories as a child were shimmying up coconut trees in my grandmother's yard to harvest coconuts. I remember breaking them open, drinking the "milk" out of them, and then munching on the coconut "meat." It seems I have been a huge fan of coconut since as long as I can remember. If you can find it at your grocery store, you should give the toasted coconut creamer a try. I think you will be surprised at how good it tastes in coffee.

Oh yes, it's like heaven to me too! And I'm very particular with my coffee creamers. But this one is a winner in my book. What is your favorite flavor of coffee creamer? My "go-to" creamer has always been hazelnut, but this morning I am enjoying a cup of coffee with white chocolate mocha creamer.

@moffittjc I like a pumpkin flavored creamer, but anything that sounds good I will go for. I think there is a butter pecan one as well. I know I would love that.

@snowy22315 I love the pumpkin flavored creamers as well. One of the reasons I love fall so much is because of all he pumpkin flavored foods and drinks that become available. I've had the butter pecan coffee creamer before, and it is a good one!

So you don't love it, but you also don't hate it. What's the latest news about the India/Pakistan crisis? Do you think it will turn into a war between the countries?

@moffittjc The yogurt is made by Dannon light and Fit. It's found at Walmart in a four pack. I did look for that creamer and couldn't find it, but I got a coconut creme instead.

It makes a huge difference. Toasted coconut tastes so much better than regular coconut. I love both, but my preference is for toasted coconut.

You and I are very similar!!!!! I love everything coconut, except coconut water (it's god-awful, I don't know how anyone drinks that crap). I used to see Coffeemate's Coconut Creme creamer all the time in the grocery store, but this time the Coffeemate Toasted Coconut Creamer caught my eye. I didn't see the Coconut Creme creamer, so I wonder if the toasted coconut is going to replace it, or it maybe they were just out of the Coconut Creme creamer.
