Ten Years Gone

Well, ten years ago my mother was welcomed into Heaven, and hasn’t felt pain since. She was only 55 when she died, but she got a lot of living in before she was diagnosed with dementia at aged 46. She accomplished so much, but she was most proud of her two daughters (we only wish we could be half the person she was). My dad was her absolute best friend, and they gave me the absolute best example for what a healthy marriage should look like. She was also my best friend, and I love and miss her. This picture was taken in 1983, when I was 2 and my mom was 23.
Tell me something about your mom.

What a cute picture. My mom is a good cook, and made some delicious meals while we were growing up. She was quite beautiful when was young and was a queen in a parade. She looked very much like Drew Barrymore. Whenever I see her I think of my mom who has the same facial structure.

My mom's been gone 25 years, a week before her 81st birthday. She too was my best friend.

You have the right way to look at it, since none of us know exactly how it feels to have dementia.
I am very sure that she is watching down on your Dad, you and your sister and her family-she just seems like the type to.
You were so very blessed to have had a best friend in your Mom. I was not as fortunate, mine was my Dad.
His birthday was on the second, and that morning I woke up in the middle of a dream with him and my husband and I in it. It was so nice to 'be with' him and him not be ill.
I miss 'healthy Dad' more than words can say. I know that when my work here is done I will be reunited with him.
My Mom was brilliant at stretching a dollar. She could and did, everything from canning and freezing foods to being very creative with making leftovers a new meal. I remember one autumn, she got a new winter coat, at my Dad's insistence, and she took her old coat and cut out 3 smaller coats from it, one for each of my brothers. She wore a plain brown wool coat, she was only 4ft 11 inches, and her clothing reflected it, but she found a way to make the boys each a winter coat. At my Dad's insistence, I had a new winter coat.
RIP and rejoice knowing that your daughter has grown up to be a lovely, friendly and kind-hearted young lady-congratulations on a job well done.

What a nice photo! Your mom was a lovely young woman.
My mom passed in 2002 at 80 years old. She was a lot of fun and we often went driving and just talked about anything we were thinking about. She helped me with Pretty after I got divorced...

My Mom is still alive. She is 86 and is starting to forget things. She has been a great Mom sacrificing much for my sister and I.

Your Mom sounds a truly amazing person. You will have so many fantastic memories.
My Mom was a stay art home Mom after i was born so we have always spent a lot of time together.
i used to hold the wool as she did her knitting. i also used to help her peel and blanch the veggies that my Dad used to grow. I phone her several times a day and see her three times a week.

What a lovely picture.
One looks the pink of health and then all of a sudden a crippling illness takes us down.
My mother was a much liked person, very kind and loving.
She passed away five years ago and in a way I am relieved she did not have to suffer more as she was almost bed-ridden in the final years.

My mom was quite a unique person, in my opinion. I get some of my best qualities from her, and also my sometimes quick temper. I find it funny that things she would say that were at the time considered old wive's tales were actually valid. Medical things. I think she would have made a good nurse.I believe she got a lot of her love of nature from her mom. An outstanding memory I have though is her holding my little brother as a toddler and strumming him like a guitar and singing with the cartoons "I'm Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee". In fact I remember her singing lots of popular songs of the times to my brother and sister when they were little.

That's such a nice picture of you and your mom
Your mom was very pretty and you soooo adorable!
My mom was very strict when we were growing up. My dad was the funny one and when my mom would punish my brother and/or myself we would go to my dad to intervene and lessen the punishment.
In her very later years (she passed away 6 years ago and was in her 90s) she was way more relaxed and I think the grandkids (her greatgrandkids) made her have more fun and not be so picky about everything.
