This shirt has had to go in the bin

The photo is an old one but it’s the only one I can find where I am wearing this particular shirt. I’ve had this for many years and it used to have a skirt that matched. It’s become the shirt I wear for handyman/woman/person jobs but today I had to throw it in the bin. We were putting the last coat on the balustrade and while moving to another spot in the garden I fell over, tipping paint all over most of one side of this blouse. There is no way to resurrect it so it’s had to go in the bin. The best part is that I didn’t hurt myself although I think I’ll have a bruise tomorrow as I landed on the flat part of a cement brick. We still have a coat of ‘Capsicum Red’ to put on the horizontal but that will have to wait until another day.

It was a very comfortable shirt and it didn't matter if it got damaged. It was also quite cool in hot weather.

I am glad that you aren’t hurt badly. Tomorrow you may feel bruised and sore but thankfully it wasn’t worse. It sounds like the shirt had a long productive life!

Is it my imagination or are you doing more of that heavy work since moving into town than you ever did before? I love a good work shirt, regardless what comes our way, it protects us, but it has done its service.

I suppose we did some heavy work in the first year or two as we were getting the place how we wanted it but we've now been in the new place since 26 May 2021 so our 4-year anniversary is coming up very shortly.

@JudyEv You are both very quick to help others in your family with big heavy projects. I admire that.

@Juliaacv It's always fun but this one taxed us a bit. We'll be pretty careful about what we take on in future.

I'm glad you're okay and hope you don't have a big bruise or any pain tomorrow. It's a shame when a good shirt gets ruined by paint but it does happen. I was afraid you were talking about one of Vince's favorite shirts that was more holes than shirt... Pretty always tries to throw my shirts like that away but I rescue them from the trash before it goes out to the curb... I don't understand why women think those good and comfortable shirts need to be thrown away.

@JudyEv I have a couple of shirts that look like that. Every once in a while Pretty tries to throw them away, too. I'm sorry you both bruise so easily. I do too. Pretty is always pointing out a new bruise and asking how I managed to get it.

@DaddyEvil Do you ever know how you got a bruise? I very rarely remember even though, when I knock myself, I think 'I'll remember this time when I get a bruise'.

I'll have a bruise for sure as I bruise quite easily, much to Vince's disgust as he never used to bruise at all. Now that he is on blood thinners, he beats me hands down. Here is one of Vince's jumpers that I had to smuggle off to the rubbish bin after he'd done one too many welding jobs in it.

We always wear ear muffs when we're using noisy machines but we don't use them much nowadays.

The paint went through the shirt and I had to have a shower and scrub myself to get the paint off. Luckily it was water-based paint.

That shirt should go and there is nothing to worry about it. The most important thing is that you are safe. I don't understand much as to which part of your body landed. Make sure to have it checked again. Stay safe.

I went to sit on a stool and it tipped over backwards with me and I landed on my back in the garden. Luckily I didn't fall far or I might have hurt myself.

It served me very well indeed. I was a bit sad to have to get rid of it but there was thick paint all over the sleeve and shoulder.
