Who Gets Married On A Wednesday?

United States

The answer to that would be my grandson!! Yup, today is the big day that my grandson and his fiancé tie the knot. I don't know if weekday weddings have become popular or if this is unusual but I only have a wee bit of time to spend here this morning before having to get ready. My daughter is at the salon getting her hair done and I'm just finishing my breakfast and coffee. The wedding and reception is about an hour away somewhere in New Jersey. I don't have to drive so I really didn't pay much attention to the actual address but the place looks really nice on the website. The down side to this day is the rain. They say rain on the wedding day is good luck but I don't know how much I believe in that or if the saying is just to make the bride happier on her wedding day

I hope your grandson and his wife are enjoying wedded bliss and that the rain on their wedding day gives them a long, happy, healthy, and prosperous life together.

Yes they are very happy. My grandson got a really good job offer but they had to move over 3 hours away so we don't see them as often. My poor daughter in law really misses them as they lived about 15 min away before they had to move. It's hard to believe that they'll be celebrating their 1st anniversary in just a few short months.

@DianneN I'm sorry to hear that your son got divorced. It's never easy. My youngest daughter got divorced quite a few years ago and is back living with me (she might have moved back before you took your "leave of absence" and then about 2 years ago my son in law (married to my middle daughter) decided he didn't want to be married anymore (after 20 yrs) up and left and moved to Arizona to be with someone he met online, Go figure. He totally abandoned his family. I hope your son is healing from his divorce. it's rough seeing our kids go through this.

@Marilynda1225 I’m so happy for them, even though they got married on a Wednesday. The day of the week shouldn’t matter. My younger son married on October 7th on a Friday, just to avoid bad luck on the 13th. And look where that got him. A divorce 18 months later. I’m sure your DIL misses them. 3 hours away is a schlep, but doable.

I think Wednesday is an unusual day for a wedding. Most people have to work. I wish them all the best and hope you had a good time. My grandson gets married on June 13.

not sure if it's a thing but my #3 son did a Wednesday wedding, his reasoning was good. He did it on their first date anniversary so he wouldn't have to remember another date enjoy the wedding, I have to admit that I do love a good wedding.

I think sometimes things like venues and catering are cheaper on weekdays. I hope you had a wonderful time.

I think it is cheaper to get married in the middle of the week instead of the traditional Saturday.

It rained on our wedding day; but thinking about my husband's actions, it didn't turn out very lucky. I hope they have a long and happy wedded life. Maybe it was cheaper to have the wedding during the week. I hope you had fun.

One of my friends went to a wedding about a month ago on a Monday. I guess a wedding can be anytime. We are all just sort of geared to see them on a Saturday.

How nice! I was going to say that perhaps a weekday would be good for a wedding if they are just going to the Justice's office and not having a full-blown wedding celebration. Will there be pictures?

Congratulations to the Bride and Groom, may they know love and happiness for their entire lives. It isn't a terrible idea to get married on a week day. They will have a much easier time of getting the service that they need, for the photographers, the hair dressers and the venue for supper. My son married on a Friday for those reasons. I have heard people say that rain on a wedding day is good luck, it rained on my parent's wedding day and they were married for just a couple of months shy of 50 years, a lifetime of love.
