Food Shortage This Time Around

A couple of years ago, I started getting our groceries every two weeks instead of once a month. It worked much better. But, this month we have been more active than usual, moving our belongings and getting ready for the flooring to be done upstairs, so we have had more of an appetite and eaten more. And then putting some back. We are still waiting to get most of the bedroom things back in them because the closet doors still need to be hung. Anyway, we are short on food this time around, so my daughter went to get a food box from a nearby church. They give a person a week's worth of food. We got chicken breasts, beef stir-fry, bacon, a cake, huge baker potatoes, a bag of vegetables, French bread, butter, 2% milk, etc. We will definitely be good for the rest of the month. We haven't had to get a food box in quite some time.

That's a great food box. None of this canned beans, pasta, and tuna a lot of places usually give out.

@sallypup I know some people do like those things, it's just that they're usually the cheapest things.

@BarBaraPrz There is nothing wrong with cheap. I wonder if people get sick of eating hamburger? I remember trying to figure out what to do with the grease- pouring it down the sink would clog the pipes, feeding the dogs the grease would hurt them and on we went.

At least it's an option. Even with George not eating as much, we still shop once a week.

We couldn't afford shopping once a week. It would be nice though.

I am glad that the box was available when you needed it. Working hard can stir up an appetite.

Glad you were able to get food from the church, I manage with what I order each month. Sometimes I even eat a bigger meal once a day and then have some snacks,

That is how we usually do but my grandson eats more when he's more active.

My daughter is good about knowing where they have food boxes and when. We used to have to utilize these places a lot.

That's great that you got so much to make meals with, meats and vegetables, etc. I'm glad you took advantage of it!
