Just a small project this time

We spent last night at Vince’s brother’s place and feasted on lamb chops with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My kind of meal. We arrived after lunch and helped him put the last coat of marine varnish on the uprights of a gazebo which is in his backyard. You can see his new fence behind the gazebo. There was a rickety wire fence there before. The house next door has been sold and the new owners were happy to take out a couple of big but unnecessary trees, one of which was smack bang on the boundary. They also suggested the fence which keeps their dogs secure as well as giving some privacy to both parties.

That fence is quite neat. Out here, people would steal it and sell the metal for drinking. LOL. That is why cement and brick. They even pick the manhole covers, do you know that? LOL Whatever...glad you had a good time, and it was the kinda food you like. :)

I didn't know that! Wow, that's pretty bad. Here, they sometimes steal cabling of different sorts to get the copper from it. I think they would find it a bit hard to steal these fences but in some areas where no-one is round they might.

This is the kind of place I dream of living in. Perhaps I will get a gazebo built behind my house.

I hope you do get a gazebo one day. He has quite a large block, mostly planted with Australian natives.

@JudyEv Although we often consume chicken, pork, beef and fish, but we also like mutton.

@youless We don't have so much lamb now as it's very expensive here at the moment.

We lived on mutton and lamb when I was growing up on the farm. It's expensive now so we don't have it as often.

@RebeccasFarm We sometimes go to a 'proper' butcher now rather than buying from the supermarket.

I also love lamb chops, it's very expensive here, it usually comes from New Zealand. I like this fence, we also had a fence between our garden and the one of the neighbours, for more privacy.

@JudyEv Those fences are becoming more popular also here in Europe, no more wooden fences or plants to create hedges, there is a lot of maintenance for those.

@JudyEv Our neighbours are very elderly, live alone and we never see or hear them. It can’t be too long before the inevitable happens and we dread those houses being bought by people with unruly kids or dogs.

That new fence is striking. I noticed it right away. The meal sounds good, although I have never had lamb chops. Sounds like good and agreeable neighbors.

The previous lady was very nice but wouldn't cut down any trees - which is fair enough but some heavy limbs were overhanging BIL's roof and getting quite dangerous. It is all much more 'tidy' now.

It will mean the uprights will last much longer. It's easy to put off such tasks and next thing you know the wood is starting to rot and it looks awful.

Good neighbours are a godsend. Their two Labradors bark quite a bit but only if something starts them off.
