I might make some marmalade

There is a big orange tree in the backyard of our current house-sit. It is loaded with big juicy oranges and my BIL suggested I make some marmalade. This isn’t my favourite conserve but Vince likes it. Also, I have lots of small glass jars which, filled with marmalade, would make nice gifts. So tomorrow I might go out and pick a few to add to those that I’ve already picked up off the ground. There is nothing wrong with them. Any that are damaged go in the compost bin but there are plenty of perfectly good ones. I’ll probably wait till I’m in my own home before I make it. Do you like marmalade? The photo is an old one but today’s oranges look much the same as those from two years ago.

I like marmalade and those oranges look beautiful. You will be busy in the kitchen for a while.

It's shame to see them going to waste.

@LadyDuck I do too but if I eat too many I get an itchy rash.

No, I don't like marmalade and Pretty won't eat it, either. I do love fresh oranges, though. I used to make jams and jellies and give jars of them to friends and family. I stopped making strawberry jam several years ago because we had jars and jars of it and Pretty won't help me eat it. I cut down on the sugar I eat so they'd go to waste now.

@JudyEv I don't know... I don't make anything orange flavored because while I love oranges and orange juice, I don't like other things flavored with oranges.

@DaddyEvil I'm a bit the same with chocolate. Love chocolate but not so keen on chocolate-flavoured produce.

I love strawberry jam but these oranges are beautiful too. I wonder why people don't make orange jam.

The tree is quite loaded with the fruit, it is great that you know how to make marmalade. I am afraid that I do not have that knowledge. My Gramma used to enjoy marmalade, but I did not acquire a taste for it. I do not like jelly only on occasion will I take jam, and I really enjoy black currant jam. It is hard to imagine that your house-sit will soon be coming to an end.

I guess I could make some thick cut and some thin cut. There are enough oranges for both.

@JudyEv Has to be Thick Cut. Yvonne doesn't let me eat too much toast as she says I use too much butter So I don't eat marmalade as much as I would like to

I would love to have a jar full of marmalade as a gift. I am tempted to pluck those oranges from the picture . They look so fresh and juicy. We don't have oranges growing here. They grow in Nagpur, the orange city of India.

Orange marmalade is so good. I made some last summer. There are 3 little jars left, but my son loves jams and marmalades so they never last long, the other kids like them as well. So, so good.
