Now, That Makes Me Mad

Remember that cartoon dog, Droopy? He would get into certain situations and then iterate, "Now, that makes me mad," before grabbing another character's arm and then repeatedly slamming them into the ground. That was a pretty funny character. He comes to mind because I had thought I had forgotten to make a payment to the U.S. Bank credit card for $410, only to make another one and now I will have a $410 credit. Not that that's all that terrible a thing. But at the same time, they sure won't pay me interest on that. Oh well. If only U.S. Bank had a tab where it showed pending payments. If they did, I could have known that the payment I made on the 7th simply wasn't processed yet. Now, that makes me mad.

That's bad luck but at least you won't be charged late fees.

@porwest Authorities don't mind making you wait for a payment but heaven forbid if you're late with a payment.

@JudyEv It's like the IRS. If I owe them money, they want interest. If they owe me money, I get what they owe me and nothing more. lol

@BarBaraPrz Look up Droopy on YouTube. I am sure one episode and you'll be like, "Oh yeah." I mean, if I know who Dudley Do-Right is, you surely know who Droopy is. lol Not to mention, Rocky and Bullwinkle...both Canadian cartoons that made their rounds in the U.S. when I was a kid.

They will not pay you interest but you will save a teeny tiny bit of interest by paying ahead.

I don't carry a balance, so I never pay interest.

Seems like it should have at least showed that no payment was due. Thankfully you will have a credit and will not need to make next month's payment.

It only shows that when the payment is processed. Not when a payment is pending. And unfortunately, it didn't show pending payments either.

That’s interesting. Chase will NOT allow me to pay more than 10% over what my balance (including pending charges) is. If I know I’m going to have a $400 car maintenance bill on the credit card next week, I can’t pay them NOW for it, I have to wait until it posts. I’m surprised they’d let you make a payment like that, or at least not give you a warning “you have no payment due at this time.” Oh, well. Yeah, wish YOU could get 29.75% interest on that money they’re holding of yours.

All banks are different and have different policies. In this case, apparently this one has no problem holding my money. It is what it is.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I'd never consider a vehicle an investment, but I can agree that the properties are.

I would agree, which is probably why the bulk majority of my money is not kept in a bank. It's almost all kept at my brokerages.

I can understand how you feel. Believe me. I would be mad, too. I usually check my bank account. When it disappears I know the payment has processed.

But that's just it. It doesn't show up as cleared in the bank account until it is processed by the payee, and usually the payment shows processed before it shows cleared, so I was completely in the dark, here.

Though Droopy seems kinda familiar, I am not sure if he became popular here

Not sure how many of the American cartoons made their way overseas. I imagine many did, but maybe not Droopy? Not sure.

As frustrating as that is it's certainly better to have a credit than a non-payment and late fees.

I can't disagree with you on this, and luckily, I am not one who will be broke by an extra $410 going out.

Still, better that way around than forgetting to make the payment at all and being charged fees and interest!

That’s weird. They should show pending payments. I remember I once paid the water bill only to realize much later I made a payment to the wrong account. I was beating myself up over that. Good thing I still had time before due date to pay the right account so avoided the late fee.

@porwest They have a link to show you pending payments for other things like utilities, etc. Why can't they show pending CC payments? Why? Because it makes sense. lol

Some do, some don't. But it would make sense to me that all do. I keep good track of things, but I'm human. Sometimes things get overlooked—I had made the "paid" entry in my proper place. But it wasn't showing in any "pending" status, so all I could assume was that maybe I forgot to hit the "submit" button or something or that my payment was somehow not sent through. It's a small inconvenience, but one that I think could have been avoided if I were able to see pending payments.

Oh! That's terrible thing and you must be mad. Glad that our banks have reminders to avoid late fees and tabs to show if it is pending or being processed. That makes it convenient and user friendly.
