House Inspection...

I very rarely use my email anymore but my daughter informed me this morning that the landlady sent an email to me saying she'd be here sometime this morning to do a house inspection.
We keep the house clean so it doesn't really matter to us when she shows up. The only thing she might say something about is the yard. With my sciatic nerve acting up again, I can't go out and mow and Pretty will only mow if I gripe and gripe at her until she does it... I get tired of telling her we need to mow... One of these days she'll figure it out when the city comes and mows the yard for us and sends us a bill for $400. (It's her money so I shouldn't care, but I do.
)
I'm awake, showered and dressed, waiting for the landlady to ring the doorbell.
I hope everybody here is having a good day.

@DaddyEvil - I rent here, but we have no inspections. We rented during 29 years in Monte Carlo and we never had an inspection.

@LadyDuck I rented over 22 years at our last house and never had an inspection. We didn't see the landlady during the pandemic but, after the pandemic was "over"
, she started doing inspections once a year.

If you own a house here, no inspections. We rent so the landlady shows up once a year to look around.
Thank you.

Hope she shows up soon and doesn't make you wait all day. I can understand the whole sciatica pain as I get it occasionally myself. It's the pits. Guess I shouldn't complain too much about the lawn crew that comes here and does all the mowing. It's a nuisance but at least i don't have to nag anyone to do it. They woke me up this morning with their 8am arrival.

Right now I'd love a lawn crew to come mow the mess. Our current mower will only run about 10 minutes before the battery is drained so we've been doing the lawn in strips... It stormed last night so we can't mow the rest of the front yard right now. (We're supposed to have rain/storms for the next several days.)
Pretty told me a little while ago that we've finally saved up enough money to buy a new gas mower. Hopefully, I'll be able to get out and tidy up the yard soon.

@DaddyEvil that has to be frustrating to only be able to mow for 10 min at a time. At least you can get a new gas mower now
all the rain certainly has put a damper (literally) on getting yard work done. I don't know if we've set any records for the rainiest spring but it certainly seems like we've had a lot.

@Marilynda1225 I looked at the predictions for how wet or dry this year was supposed to be during the winter. Everything I could find said it would be unseasonably hot and dry in my part of the Ozarks... It sure isn't looking that way right now.

I never want to live anywhere where I need my dwelling to be inspected. Only invited guests can come here. Good luck with it all.

If I could, I would let you mow... Our mower is easy to start. You push the red button and pull back and hold the handle. It will start up and you just push it around.
Thanks for the offer.

@rakski Yeah, it's 4:15 am and storming outside now. No mowing this morning, at least.

She seems to be very nice. We haven't had any problems and she's bent over backwards for us the few times we've asked for something.
I hate being able to walk without pain and then, suddenly, I can't move without electric jabs running down my hip and leg. I always yell when it happens.

@BabeSays It's annoying that she takes credit for all the work I do.
The secretary wouldn't have found anything wrong if she did look...
I don't know but I don't like it.

You're right, Pretty hates mowing the yard but tells everybody that she's the one who mows.
The secretary didn't even look around the house. She just had Pretty sign that she inspected everything and left in less than a minute.

@DaddyEvil Aha I see. She is funny taking credit to mow the lawn. Well that's very good that she didn't look elsewhere. And since the house is always clean she might not bother checking the lawn.
Why is it so scary whenever the landlord visit....when I was little we use to live in rented houses and whenever the landlord would come it scares me. I don't even remember why. But I do remember of being scared of being kicked out if something wasn't to thier liking.

Maybe if she said something about mowing Pretty would listen?

I would not mind if someone turned up and cleaned the garden for which I am willing to pay We do not even get people to do that here these days

Have you tried hiring older teenagers to help out? Maybe ask a school Principal if there are a couple of reliable young guys that you could hire to help with the garden?

Sometimes teenagers will come by and offer to mow for $50 but we haven't seen any of them this year. I'm the one that normally mows the yard.

Thanks. She didn't even notice the yard and it did go well, thanks. She stepped barely in the front door and had Pretty sign that she'd "inspected" the house and left.

$400 is highway robbery. I saw that the inspection went well. That's good.

The city wants us to mow our own yard... If we don't do it, then they fine us... Thanks.

I can understand it if the grass is up to the roof, but everyone has had a wet spring, so it’s hard to get time between deluges to mow unless you’re using a kayak. If you want, I’ll call the city and tell them to take a chill pill.

That would work except the houses on either side of us and across the street are all neatly mowed.

Everything was fine, thanks... The landlady sent her secretary over. The woman stepped in the front door, asked Pretty to sign a paper saying she'd "inspected" the house and left again.
