Time to hit the wayback machine for some beautiful mooning as I continue the monthlong look at the moon in song. There are some songs you just can’t ignore, and this is one of them. Not old, TIMELESS! Here’s today’s song.
Moonlight Serenade - Glenn Miller
Hey, want a tie-in with that World War II history I’ve been boring you with after my visit to Camp Breckenridge? Glenn Miller was born in Clarinda, Iowa…which was the site of a POW camp during World War II. How about that!! (And, if you remember from my plane crash series, Miller was a casualty of World War II, his plane going down over the English Channel in 1944.
)
My dad insisted that we only had country music in the house, and yet we had a Glenn Miller album. I didn’t appreciate it when I was little, but I certainly do now! And what better song to pick than Miller’s signature tune?
Lyrics were added to the song in 1941, but they weren’t needed. This sweet tune speaks volumes without words.

Enjoy!

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a fan of brass instruments, but this is more about the woodwinds.
Very pleasant tune to listen to, especially (I imagine) whilst sitting in one’s rocking chair.

Another instrumental today, and it’s saxophone, so I’m in luck.

My late dad was a huge fan of Glenn Miller's music as well as artists from that era as well.

@FourWalls No. But I do appreciate the 60s and 70s stations.

Oh, yes, that's such a great movie. Of course, I love Jimmy Stewart, so I'd say that.

I'm sure my mom and dad when they were dating danced to this wartime tune at one of those USO events.
Both were in the Army at the time. Love at first sight.

Glenn Miller had a way to bring the romance into the air, too!
