And Our Car Won't Start...

We just had the motor in our car rebuilt, a new battery installed and the alternator checked...
One day last week, the Electric Company knocked on our door asking me to move our car so they could do some work on the old drug dealer's house. I'm having problems with my left hip and leg again so offered them the key and asked if they could move it for me. They agreed and parked it in the street in front of the house.
I just went out to move it back into the driveway and it's dead...
I called the repair place and asked if I was misremembering them saying they'd checked the electrical system on it and they assured me they had... So I asked if they could come over and jumpstart it and check to see what's going on. They said they'd call before they came over...

Car trouble is redundant…if you’ve got a car, you’ve got trouble.
I’m sorry that happened. Hope it’s nothing more than a loose connection or wire.

Thanks.
When I called, the secretary said the Electric Company guy probably turned something on and left it running.
The lights are automatic. I always leave the radio on but it shuts off when you turn the key off. And nothing else should have been needed for a two minutes start and park.

No, the mechanic didn't come by to check it yet. We just had the motor overhauled. There shouldn't be anything wrong with it. We put a new battery in at Christmas time.

Oh no! Did he leave the switch on accessory? or did he leave the door open slightly?

@DaddyEvil We have stories in our family of trunk lights or hood lights coming on and draining the battery, but he would not have had reason to do either. Hmmm.

I couldn't find any reason for anything to be running... And I locked the car remotely after he parked it. It won't lock if the door isn't closed correctly.

@celticeagle The battery we installed in December couldn't hold a charge so they gave us a new one.

Thanks... The mechanic still didn't show up... I'll call another garage tomorrow, asking for a jumpstart and we'll see what happens.

Thanks... We thought it was all fixed. The mechanic didn't call before 5 pm when they close so hopefully, he'll have time to come look at it tomorrow.

@lovebuglena He showed up this morning... It turned out the battery was bad. Since we've had it less than six months, they gave us a new one.

@DaddyEvil Good you found out now, then when you have to be somewhere. My guess is they won't know what's wrong with it, or will tell you something that isn't the right thing..but hoping for the best.

@snowy22315 Yeah, that's what mechanics usually do... It's just really puzzling since we thought it was fixed, too.

We don't have anywhere we need to go. I was just putting it back in the drive... But this is annoying. We just paid $1700 to rebuild the motor on it.

Nope, not yet. Still waiting for the phone call.
Thanks... I hope so. It has been back for a few weeks so I can't imagine what's wrong with it.

@Juliaacv The battery is under a warranty and this garage supplied it... The repairs to the motor are under warranty but the alternator was fine... I'm just puzzled over the problem. It's been running fine for over a month and now this.

Something is still messed up if the guy didn't leave lights on or not close the door all the way

@wolfgirl569 I've never turned the headlights on or off since we bought the car. I would have seen them if they'd been on and the older neighbor would have told me if he saw them on, too.

@DaddyEvil Check to make sure they are going off. That can go bad. Or you can have a possessed radio like my truck does

@noni1959 Yes, the battery was a piece of junk. The mechanic said it didn't even have a spark of life in it so they replaced the battery. It was less than 6 months old.
I don't know what a CO2 issue is unless you mean that cars give off CO2 as a byproduct of running.

@DaddyEvil Did it get fixed? I always worries me when mine shows signs of pending trouble. My light is on again. The coding shows the C02 issue again.

@DaddyEvil Hmm. Anyway, I'd find it unlikely just parking the car would need any other things turned on that would drain the battery. I'm sure you'll get it figured out.

Thanks.
We don't need to go anywhere so I'm not in a hurry for them to get it fixed.
It's still hurting if I turn to the left, if I lift the left leg too high, when I sit or stand and when I get in bed and lift my left leg up into the bed.

@DaddyEvil Hmm...I have not taken my car out in more than a year and I am not advised to drive for another few months. I don't want to drive again.
. Happy that my workplace is at walking distance.
For other occasions, I can always hire a ride.
That sounds terrible! Will painkillers help?
Hope you feel better soon.

@arunima25 Everything is so far apart here... And there are no taxis or ride sharing where we live. (I could call and have a Lyft come but I'd have to pay them to drive 113 km to me, the distance I need to travel and the 113 km back to their base.)
It's cheaper by far to own a car here.
Painkillers don't work on nerves unless I get ones strong enough to knock me out...
Thanks.
