Hydrox vs. Oreo

I used to buy Hydrox cookies to put in my daughter's dad's work lunches. They were a chocolate sandwich cookie with a creme filling. I thought that Hydrox was a knock off of the Oreo but it seems to be the other way around. Oreos were produced by the National Biscuit Company in 1912. Their sweeter taste and more aggressive marketing helped them surpass Hydrox which had actually come on the market in 1908.

I haven't seen Hydrox cookies in years, but I have to admit I don't really look for store bought cookies, so they could be there and I haven't noticed. I had actually forgotten about them.

As a kid I preferred Hydrox and did not like Oreos. My parents did not buy them, my dad's mom did. I remember eating them on the porch swing.

We only see Oreos in the stores here. I know mom used to buy Hydrox cookies when I was a kid but I don't remember them well enough to know if I can taste a difference. Often I can't taste any difference between rival brands of foods.
