How many people do you know that can keep quiet?

There are people who have to know everything. If there is a secret, they feel the need to know it. Sometimes they try to disguise it with concern, when all they really are is nosy. Would it kill them to be unaware of just one thing? No matter that it inconveniences someone else. Then there is a friend who asks if something is wrong, and if you answer yes or no they hound you until you tell them something, but you get the worst feeling ten more people will know about it by the end of the day.

Some people can't stand being in the dark, but even if they HAVE to know, they shouldn't spread it.

I prefer to keep stuff to myself. Funny thing is people will press for information then forget immediately and month's later will ask the same questions all over again. I also hate "getting to know you" activities where you have to reveal the good the bad and the ugly under the guise of being a better team.

@AmbiePam The two situations I mentioned happened in the same classroom on the same team. Of course by a person who is so Christian she hurts. Sorry, but that is how she came off to me.

I have a friend who constantly tells me about other people she knows, I don't really know other than she's mentioned them before, and she prefaces her comment with, "This is just between you and me." Yeah, ok, and all the other people you've told... I often wonder what she's telling other people about me.

I am blessed to have a few people that I can confide in and know it won’t go any farther.

@AmbiePam It's important when someone tells you something in confidence, to keep that trust, or the relationship is over.

My bestie of many years...we tell each other a lot of stuff we never, ever share with anyone else. I know she never broadcasts my issues, nor do I ever do that to her. People need to respect each other more. Blabbermouths are not welcome, but hey, they are out there for sure. I'm sorry that happened to you, Amber.

It is human weakness wanting to be 'in' it. They feel hurt if someone else knows it but not they

I can shut up about anything if it is worthy and important. If it is shady and goes against what I was taught, I will squeal like a pig, unless not asked to and if it hurt no one. I wonder if people have been truly taught. Don't stay quiet to protect bad people but be quiet to protect good people.

I can keep private matters private. It is an honour to be told something privately and then you must abide by your promise and maintain that privacy. My husband, my son, 1 niece and 2 nephews that I could entrust in my most private news. One of the nephews is a lawyer, and I know that he has to maintain confidentiality, especially given the fact that he is the assistant to the crown attorney, and does high profile cases. He has so much respect for me, that he wouldn't let anything that I ever say out, the same with the other nephew and niece. I am blessed with good family.

I can keep quiet. If someone tells me something asking to keep it for me, no one will know, not even my husband.

I'm very careful about who I tell what. I pride myself on being able to keep secrets. I'm also very careful about what personal stuff I share with others.

My boyfriend says he hates such people, calling them "nosy busybodies", and he refuses to answer any of their questions. My life is too disturbing for these people to understand, so they ask me about my mom instead. I tell them to go talk to my mom. Problem solved.

I've kept the secret "office" romance involving my friend quiet for a year. A few others know about it but it isn't widely known. I haven't even told my work bestie.

My neighbor is like that. She notices everything that goes on at my house even though she is a great distance away. She will ask about it and expect to hear all the details.
