Ugly rumours.

One of my sons texted me yesterday to say that he had met a man I used to know from my pre-retirement days. This happens a lot given that I have conducted so many funerals and people in South Belfast, even if they don’t know me personally, know who I am and recognise me. This man however was under the impression that I had left work to give private exercise lessons! I have no idea from where that notion may have arisen. I’m wondering now what other misinformation is being bandied about regarding my new life.

I would think you would more likely give private thinking lessons, or pondering. I could possibly see you giving informative tours of tiny villages. Exercise does not quite fit my vision of you.

Now I could understand you teaching proper cafe etiquette lessons, but exercise lessons? No way.

@Looeyville I'm currently devising a curriculum to be taught all the way through school about Library etiquette. No phones, no belching or farting, no headphones, no eating or drinking, and one ought also take a shower before perusing the books.

Some people love to make up odd things about other people and talk about it like it's the truth... I don't understand why people do that or how they gain anything by telling falsehoods. People are just weird.

That is pretty funny. Obviously I don't really know you but that isn't the kind of thing I can imagine you doing from the impression you give on here. Private philosophy tutorials maybe...

I can't imagine exercise classes. Maybe theology or philosophy.

It would be fun to be on the receiving end of some of those rumors. People can be fun with what they can come up with, and I would find myself rather entertained. lol

It is clear that you understand your truth, and that is what truly matters in this situation. While rumors may persist, your truth will always prevail within you and among those who genuinely know and value who you are. Regarding the individual spreading falsehoods, time will ultimately reveal the consequences of their actions. One can only hope they recognize their mistakes and seek to make amends before it becomes too late to do so.

This can easily happen. The family that is a bit known around can become an easy target, especially to spread false things and misinformation. We are one such family in our town. Even those people recognize us whom we don't. So it's literally impossible to find out who has said what about us. And especially those things that we haven't done, or the way we aren't.

People seem to enjoy spreading weird rumors, when they do not arrive to know what we do.

I love rumors, I find out new things about myself all the time. Apparently I was having an affair with someone on our department because I went to a call with said guy and not my husband. I was in tears I laughed so hard. There was another one a while ago that I was sleeping with one of my best friends while we were at live burn a bit ago. It's a good thing my actual friends know me well enough that they know it's literally just a rumor.
