What can I say? I suppose the only shock is that this song isn’t in the top ten, right? Yes, the sun shines on one of my favorite bands and my absolute favorite album of theirs. Everyone except The Dude Lebowski can sing along! Tequila Sunrise - Eagles Yeah, you can have Hotel California. I’ll take Desperado. Their second album went from the mishmash of love and love lost and other typical rock themes (two of which — “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Nightingale” — weren’t even written by members of the band) to a brilliant concept album comparing the Wild Bunch, also known as the Doolin-Dalton Gang, to life as a touring musician. Oh, and the things about the Doolin-Dalton gang were historically accurate at that! Bill Dalton really did “lay down (his) law books now, they’re no damn good” after the Coffeyville raid killed two of his brothers on October 5, 1892. And they really had a gang member named “Bitter Creek” This song fits in the album like the “morning after” scene in a movie (the previous song is called “Out of Control,” about a wild night in town). It’s also one of the songs that could be easily lifted from the concept for a single. Yeah, I’ll take this one any day. Tequila Sunrise Written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey Recorded by the Eagles From Desperado, 1973 You just get numb:

It's the Eagles. It's Tequila Sunrise. I cannot say anything bad here.

There’s nothing bad to say. Great song, great album, before they got way too full of themselves (well, two people in particular…).

@porwest -- I know. The way he's acted the past few years, I'd almost ask him to refund the money I've spent on his albums and concerts. (Of course, I saw them back in the day when the tickets were normally-priced: seeing the Eagles TWICE, and Don Henley solo, was a grand total of $35.50...$10 for each Eagles ticket and $15.50 for the Henley solo show [with Katrina & the Waves opening!]. Today $35.50 wouldn't pay the taxes on the surcharges! )

@FourWalls The way I see it, just enjoy the music and enjoy the fact that people enjoy it and leave it at that. People enjoy the music less when the one or ones behind it get all pompous and snooty.

@NJChicaa — yeah but you don’t know J.D. Souther who co-wrote three of the Eagles’ five #1 hits AND co-wrote “The Good Fight” with JWB! You sourdough bakers, I swear!!! PS: got three free months of Sirius XM after my car maintenance, guess where I keep it parked?

@LindaOHio -- I don't think anyone has to apologize for their tastes, or lack thereof. I don't like opera. That doesn't diminish the importance of opera, it just means I don't like it. (Except for The Makado.)

@FourWalls I wish I could get into country; but I just can't. Except for the ones that I've mentioned before.

What a contrast to the popular tequila song by The Champs in 1957. From party "tequila" to sadness "tequila." Hopefully the sunrise brought that outlaw new perspective over his lost love.

My sister loved the Eagles. She took me to several of their concerts. They had some good tunes!

That must've been "back in the day" because you can't afford an Eagles concert anymore without a second mortgage.

@FourWalls It was. So many concerts now are priced so high that you are right, it would require a second mortgage to attend one!

The never topped that second album in my opinion. They had great individual songs after it, but an entire album? No.

@FourWalls Agreed. I get to see Gunnar again today.. (He's the one I wrote about this morning). Maybe I''ll get him started on Teqilla Sunrise. He and I already did Knockin' on Heaven's Door. Similar chords, I think.
